Yeah was thinking the same thing, every Blu-ray I have issues with in Vudu To Go the other companies software recognizes correctly and that it is a Blu-ray then they the company say they do not support this conversion method yet obviously their software has no issues identifying them.

            Hi.

Can anyone explain why I'm still having the "HDX shows as SD in order" issue on Big Trouble In Little China? I have 2 different Blu-Ray copies at my disposal (same version of film- single disc). Either works correctly when I use my hardware and my folks account. But when I use my account on same hardware it always changes to SD (2-Disc DVD) in the order! Obviously not a Gracenote issue. And obviously its not the discs. So, everything else being exactly the same (PC, Vudu D2D app, BD writer) what is it about my account that is different from theirs?

The only thing I can think of is that I originally scanned BR on my account (and it glitches) about 2 weeks before I did their disc on their account. Is there some persistent data from the originally scan fouling my account? And if so, were is it? If that is in fact the problem, I wonder how many other discs have been fixed if you started today, but still don't work for those of us who started early this year and had a bunch fail initially?

Try using the http://www.vudu.com/disc_to_digital.html link to see if it's on your list to be taken in to walmart. Remove it from your list of movies in the vudu to go app, then remove it from the list if it's there. I've had to do this when I grabbed the dvd from my set instead of the blu ray a couple of times, it gets stuck as dvd if it's on the take in to walmart list for some reason.

Thanks for the suggestion as it solved my Transformers and Pitch Black Blu-ray issues. Even though I do periodically check I have to remember that once you add a disc to your cart and then remove it OR if you insert a disc but then cancel (w/o adding to the cart) the app automatically adds it to you in store D2D list.

Re: In-Home D2D Bugs - Movie not recognized / Mapping Issues

I have 30 DVD movies that work with CinemaNow d2d but not vudu d2d. I see that seven of them have been mentioned so I'll list twenty-two titles with problems.

                  Manually verifying:
                  Car Wash
                  The Big Bounce (1969)
                  The Good Night
                  The Statement
                  Introducing the Dwights
                  Snow Angels
                  My One and Only
                  Starman
                  Advertising Rules!

                  Problem While Verifying:
                  They Came to Cordura
                  Lethal Weapon 2 (Theatrical)
                  The Deep
                  Still Crazy
                  The Sea Wolves
                  Moscow on the Hudson
                  Dance With Me
                  Mixed Nuts
                  Air Force One
                  Gloria
                  Fools Rush In
                  Wild Things (added 12-13)
                  Bye Bye Birdie (added 12-17)
                  Murder at 1600 added 1-1-14

All except Advertising Rules! can be put into the Take to Walmart list. Again, ALL work with CinemaNow. ALL are DVD.

Time for vudu to switch to Rovi??? Hopefully we will be able to d2d at current sale prices.

Also here are some other things that need to be taken care of:

"A Beautiful Mind" and "The Master" needs to be added to D2D.

And these films need to be made available in HDX:
"Cabaret", "Five Easy Pieces", "King of Marvin Gardens", "MASH", "Papillon", "Shane"

My opinion is, at the end of the day, it is going to take a higher level Vudu Executive to "Step up" and put the fire under Gracenote to work with them to fix the database issues. They most likely are in contract and lease the [broken] database. Since they are paying, they would also get support (i hope for their sake, otherwise bad deal!). The contract could be longer term, so don't expect them to drop it overnight to move to Rovi. Also, they have already invested a decent amount of coin already , it would most likely be far cheaper for them to fix the existing issues one by one. The exec would also have to dedicate HR support from Vudu internally (maybe our buddy Dan!) and put them exclusively to task to fix without diversions. If both Vudu and Gracenote support made their way through this thread and also the other with the spreadsheet, they could most likely fix most of the mapping issues in one week.
The tech works fine. The only wrench I have seen that make things difficult is when discs do not recognize at all on a drive due to older firmware. In that case there is NOTHING anybody at Vudu or Gracenote can do to fix (you can tell that it is a firmware issue when your computer will not play or recognize the Blu Ray locally). From what I can tell, the issues for the most part are database related. Once the bulk of catalog titles are fixed, it will be much easier to QC new titles as they are added to the system, and ensure they recognize correctly. I'm sure at the moment though, with all of the issues, it is "the wild west".

Don't forget the dreaded double sided DVD error. That's a software problem and not a user problem. Why some double sided discs work while others don't is odd. I've even had some where one side reads and the other doesn't and the rare single sided disc or blu ray that gives the same error.

I'm just going off of Cinemanow and Flixster. Don't both of them use Rovi and neither one will allow blu's.
