They most likely are in contract and lease the [broken] database. Since they are paying, they would also get support (i hope for their sake, otherwise bad deal!). The contract could be longer term, so don't expect them to drop it overnight to move to Rovi. Also, they have already invested a decent amount of coin already , it would most likely be far cheaper for them to fix the existing issues one by one. The exec would also have to dedicate HR support from Vudu internally (maybe our buddy Dan!) and put them exclusively to task to fix without diversions. If both Vudu and Gracenote support made their way through this thread and also the other with the spreadsheet, they could most likely fix most of the mapping issues in one week.
The tech works fine. The only wrench I have seen that make things difficult is when discs do not recognize at all on a drive due to older firmware. In that case there is NOTHING anybody at Vudu or Gracenote can do to fix (you can tell that it is a firmware issue when your computer will not play or recognize the Blu Ray locally). From what I can tell, the issues for the most part are database related. Once the bulk of catalog titles are fixed, it will be much easier to QC new titles as they are added to the system, and ensure they recognize correctly. I'm sure at the moment though, with all of the issues, it is "the wild west".
No firmware issue on my end as all of my titles play fine. Unfortuntely, I have 100+ titles which are D2D eligible but still give the dreaded "Unable to verify this disc." error in which the V2G program asks that you identify the disc and wait for the title to be manually verified. There's no reason why GraceNote can't have a majority of these titles fixed especially those going on a year old.

The tech only works fine as long as the GraceNote database includes the appropriate disc information to correctly identify the disc. If that info is missing then there's no way for the program to recognize the disc.

Sorry if it's already been posted, but I have the TMNT set on bluray, however they all show up as DVDs when trying to convert over to VUDU, so there would be a $5.00 upgrade fee instead of $2.00.

I tried to convert the DVD for 'A Separation' (043396406919) The system recognized the correct movie, but said it was not eligible for D2D, even though it clearly is listed when I search for it.

According to the list, the unrated version of The Five-Year Engagement is supposed to be D2D, but Vudu only recognizes it as the regular version.

Also, it still doesn't recognize Attack the Block.

The following information is available on the VUDU support and might be helpful in understanding why all your movies are not available for Disc-to-Digital conversion. The list of movies available for Disc-to-Digital conversion is comprised of titles from studios that are participating in the UltraViolet program that have been legally cleared for digital distribution. VUDU expects the number of titles available for Disc-to-Digital conversion to grow over time.

Please contact VUDU support if you have any more questions: http://supports.vudu.com/

Thank you for your feedback, hearing from end users is invaluable in our process.

                Sincerely,

Gods and Generals: Extended Director's Cut Blu-ray only maps as the theatrical version even though both are listed on the conversion site.

Interestingly, the Bonus Features disc for Gods and Generals: Extended Director's Cut Blu-ray maps as Gettysburg DVD.
