Adding an existing member to UVVU "Household Account"

Hi, I'm trying to add someone to our household's account... they have already set up a UVVU account and redeemed a handful of movies. When I try and add someone on the UVVU site, it looks like it's trying to create a new account for them - I filled in all his details and it says something about the sign-in name already being in use. How is best to add an existing meber? I looked at the Merge Accounts option but that doesn't seem to be what I want either - I want him to have his own UV account which he can link to his own Vudu account, so I don't have to share my personal Vudu information. Any thoughts?

Merging his account is what you want. It will add his movies to your family account, and he will be able to keep his account login. But once you merge, you cannot un-merge.

Will merging the accounts allow him to add digital copies to our household account using his original UVVU login? Or will new titles added by him only be available to him, and vice versa? I want to share our titles but don't want him to have to use my ID (or more importantly, my password) every time.

I'm also concerned about the limit on how many Vudu players can access one UV account, so hopefully having his own ID still will mean we get twice as many activations for the same collection of movies?

The new 'member' you create will have a seperate id/login than you, but it will be different than the account that user already created. They will need the new info that you provide when you create the sub-user, so they can log in. Once that is set up, and they can log in and see all your content, then you merge their old account into the sub-user account you created for them.

I've never done this so I'm curious. You recommend merging davemoseley's newly created Sub-Account to his friends Master-Account? Why not "Merge" both Master Accounts?

I would not create a new sub account, I would just merge his existing account, and it will become a sub account. That way he keeps his login information. That's the way I have always done it.

If he merges the other user into his master account, does the other account not dissappear? Or, is there an option to merge it as a sub-account? It's been a while since I did this.

The other account becomes a sub-account. It doesn't disappear, but it's no longer two separate libraries. There is no other way to do it. You can't merge a sub-account, because it's already part of your household account.

Okay, i must have merged, then deleted the sub-user after (I didn't want them to have a seperate login).

I have the same concern about the number of Vudu players. Each family member uses a computer and a tablet. I also use my smartphone. My son also uses either his Roku or his ChromeCast or possibly his FireTV device to watch movies on our television. I also have my own Roku, ChromeCast, and FireTV device, but I haven't tried using them with my Vudu account, because I'm disabled, and can't go to the family room where the TV is located. I've been planning to get an upstairs TV (the family room is in the finished basement). How do I combine my account with my son's account and each daughter's account without disabling devices that can be used to watch movies?

Well, I can't help with your main issue, but I know you don't need to worry about the device limit as much as you think. The Fire TV wouldn't count because there's no Vudu app for it at this time, but it makes sense to be concerned about it because if there eventually is an app for it you'd want to be able to use it. I'm pretty sure the Chromecasts wouldn't count; you start casting from a computer or phone, and that's the "device", the Chromecast itself never needs to log into your Vudu account.
