    The Hobbit an unexpected journey

So I decided to try Vudu for the first time. For that matter, I decided to try Ultra Violet for the first time too.

And when I entered my code, I do not get the movie as promised, all I seem to be given is the movie trailer. Why would I want the trailer? I have the movie on blu-ray, I get the special edition that even came with a small mini book, and if I wanted to watch a trailer (which I don't), I could google it.

So what is the point of this? Really disapaointed.

That doesn't sound right to me. You might not be logged in to the account with the movie redeemed to it. The movie should show up under My Vudu > My Movies section.

      Bluray,

      hello and welcome.

Hope your code issue gets worked out. As a follow-up, I think once you start to use the UltraViolet system instead of physical discs you will appreciate the new method of playing back your media.

As an example, about a week ago my eight year old son and I went shopping. He started watching "The Spiderwick Chronicles" on my iPad. He got about an hour into it when we arrived back home.

As I put away the groceries, he was able to press "play" on the title on the family room TV and the save point from the iPad brought him to where he left off while he was out shopping with me. This time, playback was on the family room plasma and he was able to continue to watch from the couch.

He watched for awhile longer and then stopped. He picked back up a few days later on a TV upstairs and again, the save point was retained for him.

He is eight. He never had to touch a plastic disc and it took no parental supervision for him to know how to do this.

For me, not only do I have remote access to my entire video entertainment library, I also have no concern about an optical disc getting scratched, lost, stolen, etc...

      Sincerely,

I am indeed logged into my account, but all I seem to be able to do is access the trailer. YES, the movide is listed under my movie collection

I personally so far, think I perfer physical blu-rar disk which are not internet dependent or in this case, service provider dependent. I've been going back and forth with support and seem to be repeating myself.

It looks like a browser issue to me, preventing you from seeing all the buttons. Have you tried other browsers?

I know the answer to this, it happened to me and a coworker. You need to add a credit card to your profile.

Trying to stream this via PC on Firefox or Chrome. Tried using Windows 7 and even Debian (with and without Wine). Can not stream or download, because neither option is given.

Seems this is not the only movie either. I added another movie just a while ago and same issue. Interesting to note that this is only happening on Vudu, as the movies I added through Ultra Violet that were registered in Flixster work just fine.

                        Seriously... ?!

                        Reboot my cable modem
                        Clear my temp files

This is the solution that support comes up with? As if rebooting my modem is going to solve site or account issues?! This sounds like the silly things your ISP would tell you, afrer you already tried them.

No thank you. I'll stick to my Bluray disk.

From a marketing standpoint it makes perfect sense. *Why should Vudu provide a service to you at no cost unless they have the slightest inkling of hope that you will actually purchase something from them?
                              ...

...because when physical media dies, what will you do? Do you still buy CDs, or did you give iTunes your credit card info to use their service?

You can just use a throw-away card number from a Visa cash card or similar to meet the goal without exposing your personal CC info if that is your concern. And heaven forbid the Target where you bought that bluray lose the info for 40 million transactions.
