DVD Conversion Excitment to ****ed off again.

I have about 200 movies still waiting to convert to my cloud. A lot of them are HBO original Movies. and every week I check the UPDATE list of NEW movies to convert. And usually, it is alwasy depressing to see this list becuase it contains movies no one has seen or purchased. However, last month, a list came out with ACUTAL good movies. For example, JAWS, Jurrasic Park, etc. I jumped with joy seeing on the list "ACTUAL" good movies that I have and waited to convert. Thinking that this was a SIGN for good things to come NEXT month. I think NOT. Because the next month list of new dvd to convert contains movies like Lassie 4. And NEW movies like RUnner Runner. What a dissapointment.

Here is some examples of the NEW DVD to convert: ACOD, night train to lisbon, ritual, things never said, thanks for sharing. What is that? HAS ANYONE SEEN THESE MOVIES? Night train to lisbon? Has there been some MAD rush to watch this movie online? We went from a month from tremors, ET, Jaws, Jurrasic Park, SCHINDLERS LIST. YEs, let me repeat that AGAIN, SCHINDLERS LIST....OMG what a movie....TO "night train to lisbon." Vudu is truly a dissapointing endevour. MAybe it I watch "son of Lassie" it may cheer me up.

I know VUDU maintain metrics on what movies people watch online, and I think it is safe to say that VUDU is wasting a lot of time and money converting movies like, Night Train to Lisbon. It seems that it is very easy to convert junky movies that no one watches.

        Hey Dave,

Surprisingly, Vudu does not have a part in selecting titles for the D2D program. The only thing they do is load which titles are available into their D2D system via a third party application.

The decision as to what titles are made available for the D2D program is a distribution studio decision. Vudu just reflects what is made available. You will see this with titles being the same in the D2D programs on Flixster and CinemaNow as in Vudu.

I suspect what you are seeing with the older titles is just some housekeeping being done at the studios.

BTW, I agree that Schindler's List was a big score! Take care.

Actually in the past Vudu has had more movie titles available than Cinemanow and Flixster and I think they still do. I have come across a few movies available on Vudu not available on Cinemanow.

Fatty's list says there are 7390 results to his inquiry of Vudu D2D eligible titles.
Cinemanow lists about 5000 titles and Flixster lists about 4400 titles, although those lists are a little old.

But otherwise yes, VUDU does not have total control over what is eligible for Disc to Digital. The movie needs to be Ultraviolet enabled and they need permission from the studio.

There lists are definitely not up to date. I have had several movies read that are not on their list. Flixter's software tells me Reno 911: Miami is eligible but their list says it's not. They are not as good at updating their list as Fatty's post and Vudu's own search engine are. Both Flixster and CN have not updated their lists since July.
