Re: Avengers Marvel titles coming to UV or Digital Copy+!?!?!?!?!

I haven't been able to find anything on rereleases. I'm wondering if it is one of two possibilities:

    1) A quiet release with no real announcement. After all, Target did just get an exclusive DC Comics animated movie that no one knew about (not Justice League: War), the same could happen with Wal-Mart.

    2) 3-pack rerelease over at a place like Sam's Club, where this stuff is repackaged all the time.

I actually sent an email to DigitalCopyPlus CS and asked them about this. I'll let you guys know what they say when they get back to me.

      ***UPDATE***
I got a response from Disney and they basically told me that since the titles were released prior to Disney's acquisition of Marvel that all the digital copy support was still handled by Paramount. So they basically didn't totally answer my question about if the Disney releases included a VUDU copy or not.

Re: Avengers Marvel titles coming to UV or Digital Copy+!?!?!?!?!

I emailed the DC+ support to find out what version(s) of the movies had them and which retailer was selling them. The DC+ website shows their expirations as 1/14/2016, which to me says that they were re-releases that came out last month. I bought a copy of IM2 that was the regular Paramount release with a Buena Vista sticker slapped on it (the re-release from Sept 2013) and that only has an iTunes code. I've checked about every major retailer's website and no one lists a version that was released in January. I'm hoping they surface later in the month when Thor comes out. Otherwise, hopefully DC+ will respond with some useful info.

Re: Avengers Marvel titles coming to UV or Digital Copy+!?!?!?!?!

I have searched pretty much everywhere for a re-release of any of these movies, and the only one I seem to find is September 24th. If the digital copy codes expire on January 11th, 2016, it stands to reason that there should be a January 11th release out there somewhere. Has anyone tried emailing their code to Digital Copy + to see if they'll just give you a replacement code like Universal has done in the past? Could be worth a shot.

The response I got for this email basically just told me how "digital copies" are just "digital" "copies" of "movies" purchased on "dvds" and "blu-ray" (over-use of quotations are my addition). That's it. So, my hope of anything useful was squashed there. I still haven't heard back about swapping my IM2 code yet. I'm going to try calling the 1-800 number on Monday to speed through the dumb responses and see if they can work with me on it.

I got a response back from them about getting replacement codes.

                      Hello ,

Thank you for your email regarding your Digital Copy.

At this time Digital Copy code replacements for this title are being provided by Paramount Pictures.

They can be reached by phone at: 323-956-5000 or by visiting www.paramountdigitalcopy.com/digital.

                      Thank you,

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Technical Support
So pretty much what I expected.

I called, and basically got the same response as others. I was told to call Paramount because they control the DCs, even though the titles are transitioning to Disney. When I called that number, I was told there was no one there who could help me, and I had to email support (awesome, right?).

My call with Disney at least helped with some other information. The Paramount releases tagged with the Buena Vista Home Entertainment UPCs are the only "re-releases" of the movies that have come out (the 9/24/2013 releases, according to retailers). No other versions of the movies have been released or are planned at this time (not to say they won't in the future). Now to see if Paramount actually helps out, or if this will just turn to a typical round-about between retailers like many other issues.

Thanks for the follow up. Did you mention that their own site specifically mentions that Captain America, IM2 and Thor are all DC+ compliant? How can they argue this when it is on their own site. Get that off there if they are not.

Yeah I brought that up when I asked them about specific movie releases. Since the DC+ site shows the expiration for the 3 as 1/11/16 or 1/14/16 or whatever, I asked if they had released new versions of the movies with a Vudu DC option and where I could buy them, since no retailer I've seen (Amazon, WM, Best Buy and Target, as well as Disney's online store) list anything newer than the 9/24 releases. I'm hoping that Paramount will actually issue a code with a Vudu option.

I also asked Vudu a couple weeks ago if they knew anything about the releases/codes. All I got was a vague "check your local WM". Any of the moderators have any other info? I am not sure that it would be a WM-exclusive/Vudu-only code, since the DC+ site also lists an AIV option, but maybe they have some insight on the matter...?

Thanks again and keep us posted. I'll run out and get all 3 if Paramount hooks you up.

So the response from Paramount is that the digital copy code is only usable for iTunes. Run-around complete!
