I went to two brink & mortar and both titles are for sure combo.

This is slippage away from UV. Still no iTunes exclusives out there. Plus, both Warner Bros. and Sony recent releases are still UV only.

    I will update the table.

With Fox, I don't think they are turning away. I think it's on a title by title basis. I also think it depends on the retailer. At my Wal-Mart Walter Mitty is only UV. Best Buy, Target or Amazon may be different.

Re: Digital Copy Redemption Index: by studio

The two photos are from off a Target shelf. I went to BestBuy which was a few stores down and both were the same there.

I think the iTunes on Fox are a concession while the transition continues and they will probably end up trailing off that as an option. Now though, they would have to be considered a combo studio until there is a string of UV only from them.

as I mentioned, there are no iTunes exclusives in existence any more that I can find. Just a year ago there were several. If one shows up, that would constitute real slippage and be a major barometer indication of bad news for DECE.

I read an interesting article on a UK MacWorld site where they were discussing UltraViolet and the loss of iTunes from the digital copy market. It was a surprisingly favorable write up of UV and carried a tone of "Well, this is the new reality. We might as well all figure out how to get use to it." sort of thing...

With Fox it seems to be title dependent. Some are UV only and others are both iTunes and UV. Now we just need to get Disney to support UV.

3 Days to Kill, Devil's Due, and The Monuments Men are the latest Fox releases and are UV only. Hope it continues.

We need BOTH Disney and MGM. If UV could get these two studios on board then I think we would see people leave iTunes for UV.

                Thx.

I slid them back into the UV Only group for the time being.

I think UV is quietly taking over the in home play back, like they did with stunning success in the digital copy redemption market last year. There is a new report indicating as much. With the high ground in digital copy redemtions and also the high ground with in-home playback, I consider it simply a matter of time for the holdouts to cave.

The question is if the time scale is going to be Hollywood starlet speed or geologic.

I think it's still too soon to tell with Fox. Those are minor releases. Let's see what happens with Son of God, Rio 2, and Peabody and Sherman. If those 3 are UV only, then its safe to say it's a permanent thing.

Robocop and Son of God are both UV only, so it's looking good!

Robocop cost over $100,000,000 to make. That is for sure a good sign it is UV only.

I believe they are doing a choice of one of UV or iTunes for their bigger releases like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
