    Non-UV titles purchased on VUDU

If I purchase a movie on VUDU that is not currently UltraViolet (let's say Iron Man 3), and that title later is added to the UltraViolet program, will that movie automatically be added to my UV collection at that time?

    The short answer is yes.

That is assuming we have the license rights to transfer to UV.

Thanks Dan. I was hesitant to commit to VUDU., but your high level of presence and helpfulness on these forums is what got me to convert my entire collection using VUDU's D2D service.

Side note... I would not have done so at the regular price of $2 per blu-ray and $5 per DVD. No question about it. That price is fine for individual movies, but not for collections. I hope VUDU considers this as an optimum price point for bulk purchases (10+ movies) and does not get rid of that pricing structure. It makes the choice to convert your collection a bit easier.

I bought The Hurt Locker on Vudu before it was Ultraviolet. Now this movie supports UV and it shows up in my ultraviolet locker on UVVU.com.

I've bought some Disney stuff and a few other non-UV titles that I'm hoping will eventually wind up being UV compatible. A few things have switched to UV along the way and that's great and gives me hope that I'm not wasting my $$ in buying a few more titles hoping to get them in UV eventually.

I would still very much like to see Disney come along though. Since they are the biggest chunk of stuff left that I'd like to convert, having them available via UV would lessen the concern about what happens if any one UV partner decides to quit the biz.

This may be a stupid question and may make me look tight. But, what about movies that are currently only offered in SD? Like Lords of Dogtown, Don't mess with the Zohan, and a few others that im currently about to add through D2D. Will they get upgraded to HD if they ever become available or will we have to repurchase? I wouldn't have anything against paying the extra but wouldn't want to have to repurchase if that makes any sense. I would just wait altogether as I don't have much use for SD. Problem is I'm trying to get every movie I own into my library where I don't have to wonder "what have I forgot to add?" if you feel me? Thanks

If you purchase SD via the D2D program, you'll only have the SD rights and would have to buy the HD rights if you wanted those later.

If you redeem a movie in HD elsewhere, then import it to your VUDU library; you would be granted the highest quality we have available. So if we only have SD available at the time, you'll receive that. If we ever acquired a higher quality of the content, it would automatically be upgraded.

Just out of curiosity, would that policy also apply to Ultra HD 4K versions, if and when they should become available? If so, that's a pretty fantastic policy. :-)

Typically in UV, if you see that you're given HD, you'll be given HDX with VUDU. As for the what the future holds, your guess is currently as good as mine.

Well this is interesting, Dan. Now that the UV website is working I was looking at my library there, and I knew I had two copies of The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. But both copies of both movies say "Standard definition" on the UV site, even though I own them in HD on Vudu. (They're in HD because I actually owned them before Vudu had HDX! It was so long ago that I can't even find it in my account history.)

So does it not work the other way, where if we own HD on Vudu we own the high definition rights via UV? I thought HD and HDX were the same tier now. Or do I technically own the SD version, which is not currently being offered? I thought I owned them in HD, but as I said, this was a long time ago.

The UV website is still not working for some of us. I can still only see 32 titles (up from 16 originally) on the website. I tried both Chrome and IE and they both just show 32 titles.

Lucky you I still have 16 showing. Not even the 16 most recent anymore. The 16 from when I first logged in to the new website.

I sent you a PM. Hopefully we can take care of this issue for you.

Surprised that it is working for anyone (with more than 16 titles as that is all it shows for my ~275 UV titles).
