If these are digital copies in Disney Movies Anywhere you need to buy an Apple TV and watch using iTunes. If you have unredeemed codes from newer movies that use Digitalcopyplus.com for redemption you can redeem the codes for a copy on Vudu.

Disney movies anywhere is suppose to add VUDU to its options. Another option is to write Disney's movies anywhere and request VUDU to help speed up the process.

As of now that is hopeful speculation (by all of us I am sure) with no timetable or confirmation. And it is not clear if all DMA movies will feed back to and from all participating providers or they will be limited to their own redemptions and purchases.

I have a Roku connected to my bedroom TV. I use the PLEX app. It works good.

          Steps:
          1. Decrypt DVD
          2. Handbrake decrypted file
          3. Add "meta" data to file (or let PLEX do this for you)

sadly, this requires a dedicated PC to run the PLEX server as well a a good chunk of HDD storage. Not as simple a method as the Vudu D2D program. It is also sadly, a large investment in time.

          Sincerely,

It is speculation as to if or when Vudu may join DMA, though IMO it should eventually happen. However, if & when it does happen, all eligible movies in either your Vudu or DMA libraries should appear in both services per DMA's terms & conditions (which I read when I joined DMA).

I just called DMA myself about Vudu preorders of Frozen not showing up in DMA; the rep said they couldn't put it in DMA due to Walmart restrictions, but it should eventually work if Vudu joins DMA. (The latter is consistent with the DMA T&C.) The problem, of course, is that those Walmart restrictions make Vudu preorders the only copies of Frozen with no DMA/iTunes access at all; for those of us with multiple kinds of devices it's either Vudu or nothing. If I had known Vudu would impose that kind of restriction I wouldn't have bought the preorder...

              Thanks for pointing that out.
Yeah, I read the terms too when I joined, they weren't as daunting as most are, but I missed the implications for other services.

Now the question is how long is iTunes exclusivity agreement (I presume there is one), 6 months or 12 or ?, before Vudu can join?
              Clause 4 (a):

              (a) Connecting. Currently, Apple iTunes is a "Digital Distributor" of the DMA Service. Additional Digital Distributors may become available and Digital Distributors may become unavailable at any time, with or without notice. The total number of Digital Distributors may vary at any given time. If you have an account with a Digital Distributor, you may connect your DMA account with each of your Digital Distributor accounts. Only one DMA account can be connected with one account at each connected Digital Distributor. These accounts may be individually disconnected by you at any time. However, the DMA account to which an individual Digital Distributor account is connected cannot be switched to a different DMA account more than once in any 180 day period (and vice versa). Connecting your DMA account with your Digital Distributor account(s) will enable automatic Entitlement Sharing between DMA and the Digital Distributor.
Once Walmart started sending pre-orders out late and started sending special editions without another digital copy, I lost interest in them.

                Clause 4 (a):
A little further down is Clause 4(c), which answers the license-sharing question:
                (c) Entitlement Sharing. Entitlement Sharing is the sharing of your Entitlements on your behalf between DMA and each connected Digital Distributor. In this way, all DMA-eligible movies in your DMA locker will also appear in each of your connected Digital Distributor?s lockers. Additionally, all DMA-eligible movies in your connected Digital Distributor?s lockers will appear in your DMA locker and each of your other connected Digital Distributor?s lockers. This will allow you to independently view such movies through the DMA Service and each Digital Distributor?s service. No Entitlement information or other information is shared directly between Digital Distributors. Each Digital Distributor?s terms of use will determine your viewing rules and restrictions while using their services. Please note that not all movies available in your connected Digital Distributor?s locker are eligible for sharing with DMA. Disconnecting your DMA account with any Digital Distributor account will cease all future Entitlement Sharing between DMA and the disconnected Digital Distributor. DMA-eligible movies based on Entitlements which have been shared prior to disconnecting will continue to be available in DMA and in the service of the applicable Digital Distributor until you manually delete them.
In plain English: Once you link a provider to DMA, all DMA-eligible movies in either your DMA or provider libraries will show up in both places; they will remain even if you unlink them. That's definitely clearer than UV, especially since I know unlinking a provider from UV will delete all imported UV titles from the provider's library; I've had to do that a few times with my Nook HD (B&N's own Nook Video service will play UV titles in HD, unlike Vudu's Android app, but it has linking issues far more serious than Vudu).

I should add: If you redeemed your DC+ code only for DMR and DMA/iTunes (not for iTunes directly, i.e., pre-DMA, or for Amazon, Google Play, etc.), it should still be redeemable at Vudu thru either the DC+ or Vudu sites IF Vudu is a supported provider for that title. (From Vudu, choose the link under "Disc to Digital" for redeeming UV copies; of course Disney isn't UV, but Vudu handles them on the same page as UV.) Older disc-based DCs are limited to iTunes (directly and/or DMA) & Windows Media; they can't be imported to Vudu (unless & until they join DMA).

According to the Partner grid, only Peter Pan Diamond edition DVD is not redeemable on Vudu.

I ordered the Blu-ray, and I was able to use the same code to redeem Frozen on Vudu and DMA/iTunes.

Was it the Walmart pre-order? That is where the problem lies, they are sending a special 'we already added your digital cop to Vuduy' insert which will still get you DMR points, but won't add to DMA. It is my belief that the UPC for both versions are probably the same, with only the internal packaging difference (I guess I could check). This is deceptive at best, there should be no difference in what you get between preordering at Walmart or preordering at Amazon, regardless of the ability to watch early (that should simply be a bonus). I know I'm done preordering Disney movies at Walmart because I want to have them in Vudu and DMA.

No, I ordered the Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy set from DeepDiscount (for $17.98, including shipping).

After what I've read here, I will not be pre-ordering anything if it involves getting the disc (eventually) from Walmart.

The normal retail version UPC and the Walmart preorder version have different UPC

                              Re: Disney movies to vudu

What I REALLY want is for Disney to stop being so proprietary and just support UV. If they also want to support older Digital Copy format and iTunes, more power to them. But, right now, I really don't care about iTunes. I don't use it. It's also basically proprietary and only works on Apple hardware for the most part. That is to say, "there's NOT an app for that" [on other hardware like Blu & Roku & Smart TVs].

I prefer industry standards and open standards. Which is largely what UV seems to be moving toward. Interoperability: good. Proprietary: bad. I won't be buying much by the way of Disney flicks until they get this through their thick skull. They already support DC & iTunes, why not add UV? It's just one more "Digital Copy" license... If they'd do that, and support D2D, I'd re-buy pretty much every last bit of their animation on Blu-ray Combo-pack in a heartbeat. 'Til then, I'm passing on 'em all. Which sucks. 'Cause I like their animation, but I vote with my $$. I buy UV-enabled stuff because it makes economic and future-proofing sense. Currently, iTunes and old-school digital copy and other proprietary nonsense doesn't to me. I have a finite pool of money, so I only purchase the things that it makes sense to purchase. Right now, Disney doesn't make sense... So, no go 'til then.

They also seem to be sequestering a bunch of stuff from studios they've purchased over the years. Notably newer Marvel flicks (which you can only get on iTunes Digital Copy, but w/o UV license like pretty much all other modern releases). So, older Marvel titles (animation particularly) are all happy and UV compliant. Newer titles, after Disney bought them, seem to be sequestered away from UV. So, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, I can own UV. The Iron Man and Avengers live action flicks? Not-so-much. Iron Man / Hulk: Heroes United? Seemingly not. Though strangely, Avengers Confidential seems to be? Which is confusing. And that's the point. IT's confusing to have SOME titles be UV and others be seemingly sequestered. Seems to me it should be all or nothing. =o\ And I prefer ALL.
