    Sony Pictures weirdness

I got this email today. Although it says "you may still have access to your UltraViolet Library using your account(s) with other UltraViolet services", it's not clear if this will affect anything I've redeemed through them. Has anyone else seen this? (Yes, I know I could contact Sony, but my experiences with studio redemptions makes me think of that as a last resort. And I also will probably just log in and ignore the account again, as that's not too cumbersome, but if they start doing this every couple of months it would be pretty annoying.)

We noticed it's been a while since you've visited SonyPicturesStore.com.

For your security, the Sony Pictures Store will deactivate and remove accounts which have not had any activity in the past year. But, as a valued Sony Pictures Store customer, we want to extend an exclusive offer just for you.

    [boring, irrelevant "offer" info]

    Log in to SonyPicturesStore.com now
Remember, if you don?t log in to SonyPicturesStore.com within the next 30 days, your account will expire and be permanently removed. However, you may still have access to your UltraViolet Library using your account(s) with other UltraViolet services.

I think this is a good thing. I'd rather not have all these extra accounts I don't need. It shouldn't delete anything you redeemed, as long as it was added to your UV account. I wish Paramount would do the same thing. I don't remember my password to get in. I do wish they would add UV capability to the PlayStation store though.

I agree, it's a good thing....if it doesn't affect my access to the movie or movies I may have redeemed through Sony. I can't tell from the email whether it will affect those movies or not.

I suggest you ask them. I doubt UV will actually delete Sony Store titles from your UV library, but I could be wrong. (I have seen UV titles from other retailers deleted from retailer libraries when unlinking, but so far not from the UV library itself.)

I guess it can't hurt to keep the account active, just in case, but what a PITA if every studio does this. More reason than ever to redeem everything through Vudu!

Anyway, I submitted a Contact Us form asking for clarification, but I'm betting I won't hear from them for weeks.

why would you not keep it? as far as I can tell its one of two companies that allows you to upgrade your codes if you redeem a SD film sometimes its 3.00 and sometimes its 5.00 just depends on the movie. I think paramount offers it as well now.

Because most of the codes I've been given a studio URL with also work on Vudu, and Vudu doesn't pull crap like this.
