    Blu rays through MB pro

Will the D2D service read my Blurays off of an external bluray player?
I was thinking of buying a cheap external player for about 60$ and buying
the software for 40$ so I can start moving my blurays over. Thanks

There is another thread with a recommended working external BD drive. It should work fine, pretty sure no additional software is required unless you want to actually watch Bluray movies on the Mac.

I don't need the software just the player? I will try to find the thread. If anybody knows the thread please include the link. Thanks

Hopefully MaxH will see this. He was the one that posted the info, originally, but I can't find it. He may be running Parallels and Windows to use D2D with BD, I'm not sure.

Yes, I have been doing this since the VUDU To Go D2D beta first started, works like a charm on my mid-2012 MacBook Pro with Retina Display and no reason it shouldn't work with other models as well. I have an LG external BD-R/DVD-R purchased from Other World Computing.

What software are you talking about? You don't need any additional software for d2d and any blu ray drive should work. I've used 3 different drives (my old Buffalo drive, the built in drive on my laptop and my old roommates drive) and they all worked fine with no additional software on mac and pcs. You would only need the software if you are planning and using the drive for other things besides D2D and most drives come with some sort of software.

I know you need to software if I wanted to watch the DVD on my MBpro. I wasn't sure if I needed the same software for D2D to recognize the movie. Or would just playing it in the drive be good enough. Thanks

I have a more expensive Blu-ray/DVD burner, but it shouldn't matter -- OS X will read the disc regardless. You don't need any other software aside from VUDU To Go.

Mac OS X includes DVD Player, although you'd need a third-party application if you wanted to watch Blu-ray discs. Using either via Disc to Digital requires no other software aside from VUDU To Go, although personally I'd also recommend installing Flixster's Mac app, which often recognizes newer discs that VUDU seems to block for some reason.

This is the one I'm using on my newer PC and my older MacBook Pro: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TVAU0E/

It's cheap, and it works out of the box for VuduToGo. If you want to watch Blu-rays on a system that didn't come with a Blu-ray drive, it might take some more work, but this shoudl work for VuduToGo with no effort.

Bought this before I saw your post. Seems similar so hopefully I will have no issues....

                            Looks comparable.

(And if it is crap and breaks right away, you can always try that one I pointed out. )
