The UV eco-system is quietly sinking itself as a permanent fixture in the consumer electronics industry.
Neustar is home to the UV datastore. This is the same company who serves as ref for the national SS7 telecommunications network.
Intel has begun to author DECE API into their next line of processors.
Nagra is now an approved UV technology. This is what runs on MSO cable operator's set-top boxes.
When you step back and look at the 2013 holiday season seeing an unprecedented spike in growth combined with these behind the scenes shifts, it is becoming clear that the UV platform will be around for a very long time. With infrastructor players like Neustar, Intel, & Nagra, the technology is a sure bet to have been given a decade of sustainability.
If consumer acceptance continues on the path which was seen during the 2013 holiday season, it may well be the consolidated standard for several decades or even longer.
It seems like a sure bet from my view. I am glad to see so much adoption in such a short amount of time. Having a turn key method to digitize my entertainment library is something I have been wanting for about seven years and I know I am not alone.
I think the below sums up well how the landscape looks for the adoption of UV into 2020.
