Re: MGM Movies Lost UV status!

Looked in my library, and Robocop is still indeed showing UV for me. So, yes, if you bought when it was tagged at UV, it didn't lose it, it's just that no new UV licenses are being sold.

The problem, of course, concerns the CFF. Since this title no longer has UV, will users that have it as UV be able to download a CFF copy when the format is (finally) released? Further, if UV users will get a CFF copy, how will they handle the backlash if someone "shares" their UV copy with someone else? They've (MGM) lost money, because that person will not be able to purchase a license to play the file.

This kind of uncertainty does not do UV any favors.

I don't think it's permanent. I think they will be back, and I actually think they will add many more in the coming weeks. Many of the movies that are being re-released with vudu codes could be candidates for UV, just because they are likely renewing contracts. And there are about 20 of those.

I agree with you. Robocop is still UV on CinemaNow and Target ticket. Hot Tub Time Machine is also UV on both of those sites as well. We will just have to wait.

The original Robocop films aren't even being sold anymore on the other sites, but now they are back on vudu, but not UV.

Here are some films I would buy if they got UV status:

          1984
          Agent Cody Banks
          Anti-Trust
          The Birdcage
          Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
          Clifford
          Hackers
          Igor
          Legally Blonde
          Little Monsters
          Mac and Me
          Man in The Iron Mask
          Space Camp
          Spaceballs
          The Miracle Worker
          The Pink Panther (Steve Martin)
The Pink Panther II (Steve Martin)
          The Princess Bride
          The Secret of Nimh
          The Three Amigos
          Tom Sawyer
          Uptown Girls
          War Games

          Please let them come!

Walmart is selling the Robocop 3 movie set with UV cards in the movie cases. I just bought the DVD set (they didn't have the Bluray set) last weekend, and redeemed them. I got 1 and 3 on Vudu, but 2 had no redeem on Vudu, just Google Play.
