VUDU UV and D2D titles only playback in SD on other services?

I tried playing a few UV HDX VUDU titles through Flixster and Target Ticket (because the device did not have VUDU), but they only seem to play back in SD. Is that normal? Does this apply to all UV titles, that they only play in HD/HDX on the service which they were claimed?

It's title specific and device specific. It goes by what the service/device can play and what your UV rights are in your account at UVVU.com. UV is still relatively new to most services. Vudu tends to be the best right now though there are some cases where the competition has HD while Vudu only has SD (The Orphanage, a couple Police Academy movies, etc...). Devices are another story completely. Target Ticket is the newest UV service so it's still limited on what devices it can play on. It may be limited on what it can play HD on also. Mobile devices in particular seem to have less chances to be HD compatible at the different sites.

So, short answer is: No, it has nothing to do with where you purchased. If it says HD at UVVU.com then you own HD rights and it will be played in HD if the device can play HD and if the service has the movie in HD. Also, just because a device can play HD does not mean the service has rights to stream it in HD.

+1 on all of the above. I have a Nook HD, but it will only play UV titles in HD thru Nook's own service or sometimes Flixster (using Flixster's Google Play app, not its Nook Store app) -- and then only if supported, though they're both improving. (AFAIK all of my Vudu HDX titles -- the bulk of my UV library -- are in HD at uvvu.com.) I pinned both Vudu & Flixster apps to my Nook HD desktop; if neither Nook Video nor Flixster has it in HD, Vudu's SD PQ runs rings around everyone else's SD.

Where on UVVU.com will it say whether an item is SD or HD? I can't find anything in my library on UVVU.com that indicates HD or SD. This is the UltraViolet Beta site, if that makes any difference. No clue how to get back to the old UVVU site design.

It depends on where you got it from. I think movies from Vudu will only show if it's SD. If it doesn't say anything when you click on a title it's HD. The other services will all show HD or SD.
