    HDDVD conversion

I have a collection of HDDVD's I would like to convert. They are High Definition similar to Bluray. My question is that the requirement for HDX is high definition but does not indicate format. There is an assumption all is bluray. the studios all blessed this as high definition so I would like to convert and get the HDX? I called Vudu and this question was not answered, I assume there are lots of HDDVD owners that would like this option. Considering HDX is not a bluray format I would assume the validation is the movie title in HD or SD. I hope Vudu hears us.....I love the service

    Re: HDDVD conversion

If you take your discs to Wal-Mart, you should be able to get them converted at the HD price. The form you fill out actually asks if you bought in HD or SD, it doesn't specifically ask for Blu-ray.

Has anyone tried the digital disc from your computer for HDDVD's? I think I can find a HDDVD drive but wanted to see if anyone has tried it. Considering its half the price?

        Re: HDDVD conversion

It is not enough for the title itself to be eligible -- the service is for purchasing UV rights for your DVD and Blu-ray discs only. These are the only formats specified in the documentation and pricing, and only ones included in search results when you look up eligibility. This has been confirmed by Vudu staff on other threads on this subject.

          Re: HDDVD conversion

Some of the HD-DVDs were hybrid discs; HD-DVD on one side, DVD on the other. You can give it a shot, but I'll warn you that the "Unrated" version of Knocked-Up comes up as the theatrical version on the DVD side.

I've done every HD-DVD I own, as long as its available for D2D. I converted them to HDX for $2 each. This was back when the WM employee stamped the discs too, and all of them were accepted.

The point is, HD DVD is not an eligible source format. (DVD sides of flipper discs are.) The fact that the store employee didn't notice or didn't care does not change this.
