I think Dan is referring to updating the web page to include the 9/30/14 date. There has been no update as far as I know on the Vudu2Go application.

There was an update to the software, but still certain discs cannot be scanned properly.

Some say "There was a problem while verifying this disc" while others are simply unable to identify.

        Oh well...

The software update could have been anything -- including updating a hard-coded expiration date for the special. I seriously doubt any simple update will fix the dozens of documented scanning issues, many of which are probably related to specific hardware and/or disc pressings.

The errors we have been encountering are not related to specific hardware and/or disc pressings. Most if not all of my problem dvds WORK in CinemaNow Disc to Digital application. If CinemaNow had the 50% off promotion my collection would be done in a heartbeat.

Just because they work in a competing app does NOT mean Vudu's problem isn't specific hardware and/or disc pressings not being recognized. Besides, I was responding to someone who was suggesting a simple update would fix those problems; they're too complex to fix that easily (as rdodolak's reply suggests).

It's sad that it's coming to an end. I read somewhere that they might start the 50% special again in a bit. I still have a bunch of DVDs I haven't converted. I wonder if I should add them into my cart and just let them sit there until the special starts up again...

I doubt most of the errors have anything to do with specific hardware or specific disc pressings. A large majority of discs which used to give the unable to identify this disc error message now display the there was an error message. Nothing has change on my end and those issues are repeatable on multiple computers. IMHO the issue lies with Vudu and/or GraceNote and probably has to do with them being too restrictive with their software verification process. As Mad Loaf has stated, why do other programs have no issue with properly identifying those same discs?

From their perspective, I think that was pretty smart of Vudu to wait until the 11th hour to let us know that the 50% discount would be extended. I'm wondering how many people scrambled last-minute to convert that final batch of discs before the promotion ended permanently. I for one did . . .

What I'm saying is (a) specific disc pressings aren't recognized by the Vudu/Gracenote process, and (b) certain hardware configurations may not return the data the Vudu/Gracenote process uses to recognize the disc. Other programs work because they use a different process.

It has already been extended to 9/30; see DanielH's post earlier in the thread. They haven't updated the fine print yet.

However, notice the time frame is shorter this time around (only three months). I think we should all be prepared that this is likely the last extension. JMHO

Now the question is if all these problematic titles that are being reported are going to be resolved by Sept.? Are they even being looked into? There is no indication that this is the case.

They *still* haven't updated the fine print. It still says "This Promotion is available from May 29, 2013 through June 30, 2014" !!!
