Vudu To Go Will Not Install Windows 8.1

Hey, I have downloaded the Vudu To Go app for my desktop to install and every time I click the .exe to get it to install, I get an error message stating "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." This is where it get's confusing. I am the only user on this computer. I am set as the Administrator. I have attempted to run the program as Administrator by right-clicking on the .exe and clicking run as admin, but I keep getting the same error. Not only have I uninstalled, re-installed, and updated older versions of Adobe Air, but I have also attempted installing the vudutogo.exe file after each one of those took place and still get the same error. I don't understand what the issue could be. I've attempted running the installation in compatibility mode for Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP, but to no avail. I would really like to access my movie files (as there are roughly 120 of them) while offline, due to playback issues with newer content when streaming in HDX. PLEASE HELP!!!

Installs fine on Win 8.1, there is no OS specific issue so it would be something specific with your system. Assuming the download went correctly (you should delete, re-download, and retry if you haven't), it is an issue likely an issue with where you are downloading it and the permissions there or some other issue like your antivirus program being over-active. Try moving the download to a different location before running it and also disable any antivirus.

Agreed. You have some other software guarding your computer. It's preventing the installation. Years ago I saw this same problem in a forum for other software. For the life of me I can't remember what that software was called, but I think it was made by Norton. Regardless, you do have some overactive protection software that's not allowing Vudu to install. Try calling Vudu's support number.

There is a lot of AV software that will prevent you from running a program from a download directory or temp directories. This is to prevent unauthorized content (malware) from launching without your permission. There are also some registry settings which could be in play which will do the same thing. Try moving the downloaded .exe file to the desktop and try running from there. Also, you can create a directory and move the file there before trying to run it. Good luck.
