    help a newbie out please

    heres a long story short:

i OWN the blu-ray for the movie "Insidious" i want a HD digital copy.

the vudu to go not letting me did it. went to 2 walmarts and no dice there either.

someone on another forum said he could do the disc-to-digital FOR ME. All I need is to give him my vudu account info.

i have 2 questions...1. is this wise to give someone your vudu account info? and 2. will it work?

i dont know this person at all so i'm inclined to decline his offer but want to know if you guys/gals would do this?

any help is great..thanks in advance

Re: help a newbie out please

Do NOT give this person your Vudu account info. If you can't do it they can't either. Vudu to Go doesn't support digital copies for every Bluray for a variety of reasons. 1) The studio that released the movie must support Ultraviolet. Not all studios do. Notably Disney and MGM as well as a bunch of smaller ones don't support UV. 2) If the movie shipped with a UV code (in the package) Vudu to Go won't let you get a digital copy. 3) Even if Vudu to Go lists the movie as being eligible for a digital copy the part of the software that checks the Bluray to see if it's an original disc is very buggy and often won't recognize even legitimate discs. Finally Walmart's in store Vudu Disc to Digital doesn't work well either. Many times the sales associates have no training on the system or even know it exists. And withing the past 3 months Walmart changed some software in their stores and it broke the in store Vudu Disc to Digital system.

You should guard your Vudu account info with your life! Give him your bank account information and social security number instead.

You need to provide more information as to the challenges with the disc as it shows as eligible on http://www.vudu.com/in_home_disc_to_digital.html

          1. What is the message that Vudu-to-go gives you? (ensure you do not have any programs like anydvd running).

          2. What did the stores tell you when you brought the movie in with you? Did they say that didn't know about a disc to digital program or did they say there was an issue with what you were presenting as the movie?

when i put the blu-ray in it says "This disc is not eligible for Disc to Digital, please insert another disc or try again later."

when i brought it in the 1st time...they said the vudu app would "Run and run" without letting them into it. apparently...they mostly said they couldnt get in store transfer to work. this was at 2 different walmarts in town. I DID find a walmart about 30 minutes away that DID have it running so i might try there. i'll let you know..keep you posted..
