    is this possible??

i started a thread asking if i should UPGRADE my SD Discs to HD and pay a little more. Almost everyone said yes, do it. Makes a BIG difference.

I thought i had someone say go onto vudu and watch a 2 minute clip in both sd and hd to see what difference it looks like.

my question is...is there a way to watch a clip in BOTH SD and HD to see if there is a difference??

i've upgraded some of my SD's to HD but is the only way to see a difference is if a put in my SD copy and play the 2 minute clip on vudu??

how, if possible can i compare the two?

    thanks for all who reply

    Re: is this possible??

You can't watch them at the same time, but when you click on 2 min preview you can choose what resolution you want to watch it in, so the best you can do is watch the SD first then the HDX second.

Or for a movie you already own in HDX, you can change between different resolutions during playback using the controls at the bottom of the screen. Either way, don't overthink it - in the long run you will be happier with the HDX

In the future, you probably should just continue the discussion in that thread, rather than starting a whole new one. Better help that way...

I believe you can change the streaming quality while watching a movie. So start with an HDX movie and then change the quality to SD.

Bottom line is though if you have the money, just get the higher quality version.

I know that was the case with the previous interface; hopefully that feature is still there with the new interface ...

smartcookie, it's not clear where you are referring to your discs and where you are referring to Vudu's content since you refer to "put[ting] in my SD copy". It sounds like your concern is the visible difference (if any) between Vudu's SD and Vudu's HDX of certain movies. To see the difference, you'll need to watch the 2 Minute Previews in Vudu where you normally watch your Vudu content. When I click on the 2 Minute Preview link on Vudu's site the player loads the movie in SD, but I can click on the "SD" to change it to HD or HDX. However, this wouldn't help me discern the difference I might see because I normally watch Vudu on my Roku 3. When I choose 2 Minute Preview on the Roku, I have to select SD, HD, or HDX first in order to watch the preview.

          Does that help?
