Disney Blu-Ray pricing VS Vudu Digital Pricing?

I know the studios set the prices but why in the world can we buy @ Walmart so many Blu-Ray Disney/Buena Vista titles for $10 and under and yet the same title on Vudu "and everywhere else to be fair" we have to pay $17.99+ for same title with no physical disks?

    Prime example:

    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Signs-Blu-...screen/9720865 vs http://www.vudu.com/movies/#!content/30267/Signs

Makes no sense to me you should at least be able to buy on instawatch and transfer over when purchased.

Blame the customer. Vudu wouldn't charge $17.99+ if nobody was buying the titles.

Dug this up today maybe Amazon will get in the game soon

I wish Amazon would decide to support UV and Disneymoviesanywhere. It needs to be like buying Music from them. Buy it then you own it. Instawatch with 1100 or so blu-rays is a start but needs to be a lot more.

The premise of my post is true. No matter who is selling the movies, they can't sell them at prices people are unwilling to pay. Blame the consumer for the high prices.

This isn't entirely true in the case of digital content. You can have much of your inventory at prices few customers are willing to pay because of reasons such as mandatory pricing from the provider and the fact that you don't have inventory so it doesn't hurt you not to move a particular title.
With discs, the store has purchased them and they need to move them to recoup the investment. You also don't have restrictions on price and you have completion due to folks like Amazon selling close to cost not msrp (or under in some cases).
Regardless, the current situation highlights why "buying" movies digitally is bad for you and everyone else (except the content owner). You'd think folks would have learned after music DRM doofiness but the masses will always put convenience and instant gratification over what might be more logical.

I think you hit the nail on the head there with this. I won't buy digital directly. I will buy physical media with digital copy, if available. I will get physical media and, if available, go D2D with it. With the current movies that are not eligible for either method, I will wait. I have a large Bluray/DVD collection of Disney branded movies and I have yet to directly buy any of the them. Granted, I may break down one day to get the vaulted movies or the lesser titles that I already own on Bluray. I won't buy a combo pack just for the digital copy if I already own the movie on Bluray. Hopefully, one day, Disney will introduce a D2D program of some sort or maybe even join DECE and go UV completely with their catalog. They probably won't because then they lose control of their movies and pricing, but we can always hope.
