    In store D2D questions

    Hi all,
I have about 60-70 discs that the in-home program fails to recognize or identifies as the wrong movie.

    So I have a question about in-store:

    1. Do you still get the 50% off discount for 10 discs? Obviously in this case it would be a big price difference.
    2. Is it still required they stamp the discs? I do not want my discs stamped as it would lower their value.

    Thanks.

No, you do not get the 50% discount for in-store conversion. Some places stamp the discs. My Wal-mart's stamp dried up so they don't stamp anymore.

Good luck finding a store that can even do it anymore

Also, do you need to bring the cases or can I bring the discs on a spindle?

You should be ale to just do on the spindle. I never did, but I know a few people have said that they have.

I always just took a spindle of discs back when my walmarts actually did the program. They stamped at the beginning but towards the end they never even looked at the discs I brought.

Be a squeaky wheel, yet also be pleasant and respectful. I decided to give my local store another try for D2D yesterday. No one knew how to do it and it took them a long time, but finally they were able to do it. If the employees at your store are unable to do it, ask for the store number and then call 1-800-Walmart and share your experience with the store.

One thing I would do before you go to Wal-Mart is to build your list first. You can go here to build the list...

                http://www.vudu.com/disc_to_digital.html

Once you have the list built, print out 2 copies and take them with you to Wal-Mart. One copy for them and one for you. Then all they have to do is look up your account (normally just email address, sometimes they need phone number also) and your list will show up for them to process. That way, you don't have to spend time while they search thru and add movies to your list. Also, with this, you can make sure the version of the movie you want is what you get. (Theatrical, Extended, Special Edition, etc, if available.) Also, you can make sure of the resolution HDx or SD. The print out will always show HD when you select HDx, but they come across as HDx when you get them.

As long as they know what they are doing and their system is working, it shouldn't take much more than 5-10 minutes to complete. And like always, be nice and things go a lot smoother.

                  Re: In store D2D questions

I passed by a walmart in Torrance, CA today while I was out that way and remembered I had my failed d2d spindle in my trunk from when I tried (and failed) earlier this week to find a store in Long Beach that could do it. I went to the shockingly small movie section (it was about 5 feet wide) and to the photo counter there expecting a confused look when I asked them to do the disc 2 digital transaction. I was shocked when he said "Ok, let me see your movies". Success finally after so many failures. I guess I found my new D2D location. Shame it's about 20 miles away.

Congrats!! My convert location is about 30 miles away...I live outside the city and the closer locations are clueless locations.

                      Re: In store D2D questions

It took a couple of trips to my local Walmart, but they are now able to process my d2d requests. The first time, the employee admitted that he never had success doing the conversion. He did give it a valiant effort, though. The error he got when entering my info was "account not found." I was informed that one of the other employees could occasionally get it to work but she wasn't available at that time. One of the members of this forum offered the suggestion that the employee try entering just my email address and ignore the phone number entry. I went back a few days later and was assisted by the one who had experience. Success! I asked what her secret was. She said first off, the other employees had entered their password incorrectly too many times and the program was locked; she just exited the program and started over. Second, she entered my email address in ALL CAPS. She apparently tutored the other employees, because on my third trip in with more disks, the original guy was able to successfully make the conversions on the first try.

For reference, I only took the disks with me, leaving the cases at home--they checked my disks and verified that I had them for the movies I was requesting the conversions for. I had the movies listed at vudu.com/disc_to_digital.html but I didn't take a print copy with me (don't have a working printer at the moment), though I helpfully handed them a handwritten list along with my email address.

I went to my local Walmart where the D2D conversions have been successful in the past but didn't work this time. It is still showing on my D2D cart which normally gets removed when it's completed? The process took a long time to complete.

Can one of the Mods look into my case? It's #150603-000108
