Dear VUDU - can we please get 2013-2016 titles added to Vudu2Go?

Well - the fact you buy a used disc (at a yard sale, a library sale, an estate sale, or from a used retailer) does not mean you're trying to "cheat" -

Many folks do not take advantage of codes or D2D (or have never heard of such a thing), or get rid of DVD when BR come out - etc.

If Walmart wants to use an ink (one that doesn't damage the disc - great); but if they want to use a Sharpie ... that's not cool.

Although it seems only as if we're whining - we're really trying to help VUDU make this the best possible service. Right now - it's functioning at about 70%; which has to be frustrating for many new users, who probably just give up.

We, the heavier users, run into problems faster than others - so we're trying to say "Heads up, this isn't quite working yet" - there were always be problems/errors - but let's get 'er up to say ... 90-95% working?

Every fix on VUDU's end helps the entire UV and streaming community as a whole (we, or at least I, hope).

There is a whole used DVD-BR market, and often the codes are not included. Also, codes do expire.

So D2D is a great way to add new titles (and if you can take them in-store, and other providers also recognize them, Vudu2Go should do so as well), as well as old titles.

The problem is the inconsistency. Or you run into things like this - where a title "misreads" as 4 other titles, but not the title you put in. In this case, GOLD DIGGERS of 1935 gives you the choice of 4 other titles, none of which is actually GD of 1935.

I purchase movies for $1 or less at yard sales and I have accumulated a bunch from 2014+2015 this year. There are no codes in my cases, but the discs are D2D. No thanks to the Walmart Sharpie (instore), so Kaleidescape (at-home) is getting my money instead of VUDU (at-home) as VUDU2Go won't read them

My issue is that the catalog blu-ray titles released in 2013 - 2016 also don't work. And most of them don't come with a UV code. Just to name a couple that I tried this weekend. One Hour Photo (blu-ray released May 2013) and Silver Streak (blu-ray released August 2013.)

Also, in regards to newer titles, the studios sometimes remove the UV codes after the first year. For instance, American Sniper blu-ray no longer comes with a UV code.

Thanks Jake - let us know what they say! If we can help in any way (so that V2G works even better) - we want to help.

Here's an image of the BR of BACKTRACK - recognized for D2D at Kaleidescape ($1.99 for HD)

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bw...WxIM051dzVIa2c

Here's the same BR of BACKTRACK - "unable to identify" at VUDU

Also - showing the DVD of BACKTRACK - recognized (in background window) for D2D at CinemaNow

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bw...mlKT3RXWnlpQTg

Not shown - the same DVD of BACKTRACK - "unable to identify" at VUDU.

This is one example. Almost all 2013 (and all 2014-2016) titles are doing this to your customers.

Jake - I propose an experiment, have someone at VUDU install V2G and try to get the following titles to recognize as DVD or BR (both should be available) in the V2G app.

On the first carousel page of the In-Home Disc-to-Digital web page shows:

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and KINGSMAN and MOCKINGJAY: Part 1 (I see Part 2 is also D2D).

Try any of these four with V2G. Because we have. These are 2014-2016 titles.

As they are new releases, it should not be a matter of finding which "pressing" will work - as is the case with older titles that may have multiple re-releases.

Or try GET HARD (Vudu lists a DVD and BR) or BACKTRACK (Vudu lists a DVD and BR) or 5 FLIGHTS UP (Vudu only lists a DVD, forcing an upcharge, even tho Walmart sells a BR of this title) or MAN UP (Vudu only lists a DVD, forcing an upcharge, even tho Walmart sells a BR of this title also) or MI-5 (Vudu only lists a DVD, forcing an upcharge, even tho Walmart sells a BR of this title also) or any other title from 2013-2016. And see what we're seeing.

FYI: BR OF MAN UP sold at WM: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Man-Blu-r...al-HD/48572260

And the new release titles we're discussing are recognized by CinemaNow's app* and by Kaleidescape players - so clearly new release D2D is possible "in home" - just VUDU is lagging in some kind of database update.

And that is frustrating when every email I receive from VUDU (and/or visiting it's home pages) touts their in-home D2D program, even including images of new release titles you can't do at home (currently).

*(Flixster's app was also able to recognize new release titles - but of course, Flixster is no longer a streaming provider)

Out of the movies that I own:

    2x 2013 work
    0x 2014 work
    0x 2015 work
    0x 2016 work

If you want me to honestly list which dont work, I will, but its in like the 300's mark... I've had to resort to using Flixster, CinemaNow, and even heaven forbid, purchasing a Kaleidescape player to do in-home D2D for the new movies (since Flixster and CinemaNow dont allow Blurays to be read) because my Walmart refuses to learn how to do In-Store D2D and because there is no stamper, the one employee that DOES know how.... uses Sharpie's on my disc. So yeah.. no thanks Walmart..

Jake - no discs (not one, not DVD or BR) from mid-2013 to 2016 is recognized by Vudu2Go (and only about 10-12 titles from early 2013 are recognized).

At the same time, VUDU has added 862 titles dated 2013-2016 to the D2D-eligible list.

That's 862 titles just from 2013-2016 that a customer can only take in-store (which, if you've read the forums, is so hit-miss as to individual store training as to be well documented as a training issue). So, that's a lot of missing titles in V2G in just those 4 years.

Of those 862 tiles which are D2D eligible (which studios gave VUDU D2D rights to), 661 came with UV redemption codes. So including codes has clearly not ended or slowed the D2D program for new release titles.

Here's a total breakdown of 2010-2016 D2D titles added (with or without code being included)

    2010: 97 had a code out of 357 D2D Titles Added (or 260 without a code)
    2011: 141 had a code out of of 381 D2D Titles Added (or 240 without a code)
    2012: 157 had a code out of 308 D2D Titles Added (or 151 without a code)
    2013: 207 had a code out of 304 D2D Titles Added (or 97 without a code)
    2014: 238 had a code out of 308 D2D Titles Added (or 70 without a code)
    2015: 171 had a code out of 203 D2D Titles Added (or 32 without a code)
2016 (so far): 47 had a code out of 51 D2D Titles Added (or 4 without a code)

Just look at these threads. Nothing after 2013 works even though lots of post 2013 movies have been added.
    https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...Mapping-Issues
    https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...tal-Title-List

Also, if a new Blu Ray or DVD gets released for an older catalog movie the D2D program won't read them either if the new discs was post 2013. The weird thing is the competing d2d services would at least read the discs correctly though their d2d eligible movies pale in comparison to Vudu's.
