    Price Increase

Has anyone heard of this supposedly price increase?

For anyone doing at home d2d the pricing advertisement has changed. It looks like all hdx will increase to $5 before the 50 percent off total. As soon as they get in the system and change the pricing all hdx (dvd and bluray) will change from $1 discounted bluray to $2.50 bluray or dvd.

I see this now in the VUDUToGo app

    And on VUDU's website:

      Re: Price Increase

It was bound to go up eventually as it's been the same price for years. Glad I completed the conversions a long time ago. There are some I still want but either aren't available for conversion or are not available in their catalog.

      24 UHD
      764 HDX
      2 SD

Maybe newer titles will be available for home conversion now.

          Re: Price Increase

The prices are still the same when I loaded titles earlier. Once they hike up the price I will not be using D2D anymore, unless they add new titles from 2013 and onward.

            Re: Price Increase

Probably just someone "adjusting" the artwork (new images) and got the text a bit wrong.

There's no reason to pay $2.00 from DVD for SD / $5.00 upgrade to HDX, and then pay an "upgrade" from a BR.

If, in fact, the D2D price increase is real, it hasn't actually kicked in yet. I just did a batch D2D conversion of 30 Blu-Rays, and the total cost came to $30.

Flixster AND CinemaNow charged you $5 HDX from both DVD and Bluray. So honestly, doesn't sound too far-fetched. To be honest, I saw the end of the 50% discount happening before a price hike though. What better way to fix the HDX glitch, just remove the $2 HDX all together

I would think Vudu had cheaper prices so they would draw the customers in with cheaper conversions. I'm betting this is just an error, as the price has not changed.

                    Re: Price Increase

Something about the price hike just doesn't seem right though. If you scroll below the image it says this..

"How much does it cost to convert a DVD or Blu-ray disc to digital and add it to my UltraViolet and VUDU account?
$2 per DVD to convert to SD
$2 per Blu-ray disc to convert to HDX with Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound
$5 per DVD to convert and upgrade to HDX"

So either they changed the image on top and forgot to change the text or whoever made the image accidentally put in 5 instead of 2.

Sadly, I'm thinking they just forgot to change the text which is a bummer because it means I'm going to have to be far more selective when it comes to the titles I decide to transfer.

                      Re: Price Increase

So there is no advantage to convert a more expensive Blu-ray anymore. Might as well use those bargain bin DVDs to convert to HDX.

The prices haven't changed, even though the artwork says so, and according to Vudu's Twitter, it won't change and that the artwork was a mistake. However, someone posted on another forum that they called customer service and the agent claimed the price increase will be starting this coming week (31st / 1st), so it seems to be a toss up. Guess we will know in the coming weeks.

I would trust the twitter account over some first level customer service agent.

Felipe has been here and hasn't responded (he just deleted my post). So the fact that the mods here are refusing to reply, it leaves me to believe that the prices are raising and the twitter account was wrong.

Whoever runs the Facebook page said the artwork is wrong as well though and that the webmaster would post about this today but so far there hasn't been a peep from the webmaster, so I don't know.
