    Any progress on Disney?

Any hopes of Disney being added to Disc to Digital? Via the Disney Movies Anywhere merging of iTunes and VUDU I was able to get access to many older movies. Some discs didn't come with iTunes codes though and would love to add them to my collection. Any progress or is it a lost hope?

Disney would have to become ultraviolet first and that's never going to happen.

It's a lost hope. Disney would create their own app first and charge probably $5 for SD and $10 for HDX. The mouse loves money.

We might eventually see something like it, but I doubt it. If we did, they could offer an upgrade fee if you have the DMR points registered in your account. Something like that.

Would be nice, but it will never happen. It would be nice if you could get a digital copy for previous owners of the blu-ray/DVD or heck, if Disney would just get on one standard release for all the movies that would include a digital copy. Instead of this nothing/DMR points only/DMA throw a dart at a dartboard nonsense. I still need the older Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

That is what I thought but wanted to check on possibility. I will say the DMA that gives me access on iTunes, VUDU, Amazon and Microsoft is pretty nice. I wish UV had made it that far and that easy. For the Disney stuff I do have I never have to worry about device or access.

This has been sadly amusing for me as well. Given how mad all of us were about Disney doing their own thing and not joining the one UV standard, they have now created a better, more consistent, more widely supported offering than UV. UV seems to have gone stagnant. The UV website hasn't changed in years, no additional services support it (eg Google, Amazon, MSFT, iTunes), UHD digital redemption is a mystery, etc etc.

As for Disney disc-to-digital, I agree, no way in hell. They have always been about forcing new purchases. Also, VUDU's disc-to-UV conversion is the only notable program and it was put on life support a few years ago. So no new disc-to-digital effort is likely to emerge. Could be a victim of declining disc sales or simply a reality that there wasn't as much interest (profit) to justify the software development, support, and movie licensing costs as they had hoped. Note I'm still glad they are still spending enough to keep the lights on for those who haven't used it yet even if it isn't being developed or supported anymore.

If you think D2D is not being updated, they have added almost 1000 new titles this year. I do wish they would update the at home database though.

I'm guessing you didn't log in yesterday to see their update

                    I'd settle for MGM.
