    Converting HD-DVD Discs

I have quit a few HD-DVD discs and would like to convert them. Unfortunately I am not able to do so through the D to D app. I have been purchasing Blu Ray versions as they are available on sale but have too many discs. Is there a way to convert these to digital?

    Thanks,

Check your discs a lot of my older HD discs were both HD and DVD when you flipped them. I was able to convert some of those like Eastern Promises for instance.

I had over 250 HD-DVDs I converted almost all of them at Wal Mart using their disc to digital service. They converted them as if they were Blurays since I was going from HD to HD and not standard def to high def. so was only charged two bucks per title to convert instead of the usual five bucks for doing DVD.

Great I didn't think I could convert them. Unfortunately I have not had much luck with the local Walmart's knowing anything about in store Disc to Digital. Is there a particular department you have gone too or someone in the store to ask for?

Yes, at my Walmart I always wait until Kathy is working because she's the only one that knows how to do it. I had to teach her at the beginning but once she learned, it was great. Don't go very often anymore because I've already done all the ones that are eligible.

Go to the photo department of your local Wal Mart. That's where I took mine.

Yup, it is the photo department at all locations (to my knowledge). Make sure to log into your account, and add all of the ones you want to convert to: http://www.vudu.com/disc_to_digital.html and print out the list. To help them even more, put all the discs, in order of the list, into a CD/DVD binder if you have one as they need to look at them to verify that you have the disc. I took in all the ~50 discs that D2D couldn't recognize and was in and out in about 10mins.

If you just bring in the discs without adding them to that list on your account first, or make them have to dig through a stack of discs, you could be there a long time and they could make errors.

                    Re: Converting HD-DVD Discs

As dabigdawg said, some of the HD-DVDs were hybrids - HD-DVD on one side, DVD on another. I used to have a few of these, but the only one I ever got to read was Knocked Up. For whatever reason, the DVD side would only read as the theatrical version even though the movie was uncut.
