    Blu-ray Disc to Digital Service

Would someone kindly provide me all of the available options that I have regarding the converting of Blu-ray movies to my current collection. I have several but since my local Walmart does not provide the Disc to Digital feature I can't seem to find an alternative. I have a PS3 and a XBOX 360? Are either of these options? If not, what other inexpensive options may be possible. Thank you for your time.

I'm Curious. Why doesn't your Walmart not have D2D? D2D can be done in Photo Department and I've seen it process thru the Cell Phone department.

To get your Blu-rays into D2D you can buy an external Blu-ray drive for your PC.

PS3 and XBOX are not options. You need access to a PC with a bluray drive and Vudutogo installed if Walmart is not an option for you. I think a Mac may also work.

        Mac works fine.

Also Flixster, but I'd steer clear of them as they charge a much higher price than Vudu ($5 HD vs $2 at Vudu or $1 with promotion of 10 at a time).

Flixster doesn't do Blu-ray; neither does CinemaNow. Vudu (in-home or in-store) is the only option for D2D from Blu-rays.

Actually, Flixster does do Blu-rays via the D2D section of their Flixster desktop app.

They started Blu Rays a few months back. They suck though since they don't differentiate between Blu and DVD when it comes to price. HD is always $5 no matter what. I would ding you for not researching before you posted, but you get a pass because Flixster sucks and doesn't update their documentation so it's very likely that if you did read their faqs it would still say no Blu Rays

EDIT: I checked and it does indeed say Blu Rays are not eligible even though they are.

Last I tried, their Bluray recognition was spotty, not as complete as the DVD database, maybe because they are not officially supported.

Really, I've had 99% accuracy with them. Only one's that one read are Twilight Time releases and those Echo Bridge multi movie releases. Everything else reads. I just refuse to pay their prices. I'd rather wait and go to walmart.

I just bought an external blu ray drive just for this purpose. The device is recognized by my PC. But the Vudo-To-Go program does not seem to be checking it. It works fine when I insert a DVD into my internal drive. But inserting a DVD or Blu Ray into the external drive, the program just keeps telling me to insert a disc.

Can this actually be made to work?

Sounds like an issue with your external drive. Does your PC play your DVD's from the external? Did your drive come with software?

I was going to say that I went through something similar, but I think my issue was that DVDs worked, but the computer wasn't able to read Blu-rays without an update. That can't be your issue, as you said the ext. drive doesn't work for either format. Does the drive letter show up on the computer?

I'd try booting up with the drive plugged in, then running VuduToGo.

Here is an update. The issue is as I described it when using my desktop PC. It is the only computer I have used to date to do D2D conversions. It has always worked for DVDs, using the internal drive.

I also have a laptop, but it did not have the D2D software loaded the day I wrote the original post. I installed it, and plugged the external drive into it. When I insert a DVD, it does get recognized. When I insert a Blu Ray, it does not. This makes my problem seem more similar to what MaxH described.

Hopefully I will have more time later today to troubleshoot this issue. I will start with the thread MaxH linked. And as many of you have mentioned, it may just be a software/driver update issue. Thanks for all the help so far, and I will keep you updated.

For the record, I am not running Windows XP, which most of the users in other threads that have come up in my search seemed to be doing (older threads). I am running Win7.

And here is the drive I am using: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00

This is really strange. People seem to have this exact same problem when running with WinXP, and it is solved by upgrading to Win7. But I am already running Win7 on both machines I have tried.

I will keep searching, but any more advice is appreciated.
