How many DVD's did you upgrade/convert?

I have only done 2 so far, as a test, but I plan to do 20 more as time permits.

I took 5 for my first trip. May make another trip with a few more soon.

I have done 31 so far. 4 DVD upgrades. 1 DVD not available in HD and the rest blu rays. One hd upgrade wasn't worth it because the movie looked bad in HD. Very grainy. The rest were great.

I took in 7 the first day the DtoD was in place. All of them were DVD (SD) to HDX quality as I'm only doing those. I have 3 more to take but waiting for the used DVD's to come in to convert to HDX. Will have 10 total initially.

Re: How many DVD's did you upgrade/convert?

            Fourteen.

I checked for everything online and there were an additional five discs that I wanted to convert that were unavailable. Four of them were available to buy on VUDU but were not available on UltraViolet.

I went on Wednesday with five discs and no one knew how to do it. They had trouble because they didn't know the right password. I had entered the films online before going to the store.

I got a call of Thursday and was told they were ready. They had processed my list and I needed to pay for them and have them stamp my discs. They had the wrong stamp but everything else went well. I cleaned the discs with rubbing alcohol.

I went today with nine more after listing them online at home. I called first to make sure the person that helped me yesterday was there. When I arrived at the store, there were four associates with the photo manager using my list as a training session. All went well and she had the right stamp.

At home I cleaned the discs. It was a little harder this time but the ink came off completely. While I do not own the film, I do own the physical media and have the right to clean them as long as I am not doing it to cheat Wal-Mart.

All fourteen DVD where upconverted to HDX. None of the DVD's where available for purchase in Blu-Ray. One film was from the 1940's, seven from the 50's, two from the 70's, one from the 80's, two from the 90's, and one from the 2000's.

One film from the 1950's was marginally better than the DVD. The HD version on Amazon Prime was much better for that film. The other thirteen HDX copies were vastly superior to the DVD.

I am a very happy customer.

About 120 so far. 95% of them are HD and the remain 5% were SD.

I have a few hundred Movies and even more TV series. I am waiting to see how this VUDU Disc to Digital works out (and when are they going to add my TV shows to the mix) Before I jump in. I also have a few questions about the long term safety of this whole Vudu and disk to digital.
How long will it be around?
Is there anyway my disc to digital movies can 'disappear'?
If so will I get my money back?
what happens if a studio pulls out of Vudu?
Will their movies still be viewable?
How much is Walmart really willing to stand behind Vudu and their Vudu customers?
I would LOVE to put all of my movies and TV shows on Vudu, but until I know the answers to these questions I think I will wait.

You are asking very good questions that none of us have the answer.

One point that I would like to make and it is a bit confusing.

Walmart's disc to digital is being sold through Vudu. HOWEVER, the studios are participating through UltraViolet. http://www.uvvu.com/

UltraViolet has been developed by the studios themselves.

Vudu is the retailer and UltraViolet is handling the digital rights. If you go to your UltraViolet account, you will see all of your disc to digital movies listed.

Strange thing is the one movie that I purchased from Vudu is not listed in my UltraViolet account.

I only convert the movies with the Ultraviolet logo in it because of this main reason. Besides that I dont bother. Maybe If enough people make this kind of decision, everyone else who aren't in Ultraviolet consortium might want to jump into this band wagon.

In order to convert a movie it MUST have the UltraViolet logo. It isn't possible to convert a disc that isn't covered by UltraViolet.

That was the condition setup by the studios.

Vudu is a retailer owned by Wal-Mart.

UltraViolet is not a retailer. It is a DRM (Digital Rights Management) organization for the studios.

                          Yes, and no.

Fox is part of UltraViolet. However, it is complicated.

When I am not logged into Vudu the 20th Century Fox movies "The Seven Year Itch" and "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" do not have the UV logo.

When I log into Vudu both movies have the UV logo and are in my UV account.

They are the only Fox movies in my library.

Again, ALL movies available in Disc to Digital MUST be part of UV.

I took 50 DVDs and my vudu disc to digital movie list to Walmart photo center on 4-23 in Hodgkins,Illinois.I called serveral Walmart stores closer to me but none were ready.

The process is very fast if you create your movie list on Vudu and bring this with you. If the associate didn't have to stamp the disk it would only take less than a minute to process this many DVDs. During this process my online list was deleted and all the movies on it were added to my account on Vudu and Ultraviolet in HDX digital.

I watched two of my movies and the quality was amazing. I wish I could add my LaserDiscs and the rest of my DVDs.

I can tell you from personal experience that this is true. One associate I went to forgot to stamp my discs (or possibly didn't know she was supposed to). It took about 2 minutes for the whole process including payment through the credit card machine.
