Will Versions From Other Countries Work?

    Hello,

I have a copy of The Godfather Trilogy Blu-ray set from the U.K. It is still distributed by Paramount.

Will this set still work if it is from a different country?

I've taken several foreign blu rays and they worked fine. They just look at the disc to verify it is what you are saying it is. They don't run the disc through any players/machines.

OK, thanks for informing me. I haven't tried the D2D program yet, but I'm kind of afraid to do it, as I've only heard awful things about the people running it.

Does anyone know if these movies will also appear on the Paramount Movies Ultraviolet site?

Yes they do but you can only play back Paramount movies there.

Actually, that doesn't work. I emailed them and they said it wasn't supported this time. Paramount movies you got through their website are playable on Vudu, but Paramount doesn't recognize Paramount Vudu D2D as one of their own titles on their site.

None of the three non-WB UV studios (Sony, Universal, and Paramount) seem to support this. Sony partially does (it may actually be an unintended bug). On Sony, you'll be able to stream other Sony UV titles on the site but they won't show up under "Sony Titles" and you can't download them. Even one time I accidentally redeemed a Sony UV digital copy vode on Flixster (which works and is intended to), Sony's site still won't recognize that as one their titles. I emailed them about and they dodged the question until they stopped responding.

Acutally it does work. I just did it again. You have to go to "Other Ultraviolet Movies" on ParamountUV.com and you can stream Paramount movies there, in HD no less. Still no download though.

Strange. Maybe its only certain titles? (Is it one they sell on their site?) I only have one Paramount which was from D2D, which is Iron Man 1 which links to Vudu's site when I hit "Play Now".

Probably because it is Marvel owned and Paramount distributed. MI 1, 2, & 3, Italian Job, True Grit, and Zoolander all showing up there for me to stream.

Possibly, but also, every single movie you listed is purchasable from ParamountMovies.com site while Iron Man is not. Maybe it currently only supports/recognizes those movies as their own.

Exactly, because Paramount does not own the Marvel movies, it only distributes them which is most likely why they are not for sale in UV on Paramount's site. I am actually surprised there are any Marvel movies on D2D because Disney owns Marvel. Are you aware of any Paramount movies on D2D that aren't available to purchase on their site? I am going to convert some Marvel movies this week and will see if they show up on Paramount's site.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised Paramount Marvel movies were on D2D list too.

I was just about to say that they do always match except for Marvel movies, but I was browsing list of Paramount Blu-rays and I found three non-Marvel titles which are on D2D list but not for sale on Paramount's site: Grease, Stardust, and Major League. I stopped looking at that point.

The Paramount D2D list and movies on their site list are very close if you exclude Marvel, but it doesn't look like they are a perfect match.

EDIT: Looks like I should have should have checked my own DVD collection first, because Zodiac and The Warriors are also only on D2D as well.

Disney may own Marvel, but Paramount still has the rights to their own films. Paramount is still allowed to sell the movies their own studio has made however they want.

I wish it were that simple. Can you explain why no Marvel movies are available for direct sale in Ultraviolet through Paramount's website?
