    Failed to run the application

When starting up VUDU up on my PS3 I receive the following error:

    Failed to run the application

    detail: error when downloading bundle

    software version: 3.0.0-68971-ps3-69467

Previously I've had no issues running VUDU, I've always been able to view HDX quality videos. I receive this error about 90% of the time and when I am actually able to get into vudu, loading the menus themselves are so slow that I won't waste any money to rent a video because it's clear it would probably not stream through. I'm located in the San Diego area don't know if VUDU is having some issues or what but any information or help would be great. Also I've attempted to run the VUDU speed test (http://speedtest.vudu.com/cdn1/) on my laptop and it won't even run, it's stuck at preparing the download. All connections are wired into my modem/router through ATT Uverse, using SpeedTest.net I'm showing an 18meg connection.

I tried running into the same problem. It happens on both my PS3 and my Windows 7 machine running Boxee. The problem started a few weeks ago. Before it started happening Vudu worked flawlessly. I called Vudu customer care and was told it was likely a router issue. I connected my Windows machine directly into my AT&T DSL modem, reset the modem, reboot my computer and still get the same error message.

Re: Failed to run the application

My most recent communication with Vudu support:

I have deleted and reloaded Vudu yet again. Ran vudu speedtest on my laptop (all of this is done through the same wireless uverse router) Got 7.742 Mbps download, 1.48 upload. Ran network check on my PS3 and got 7.7 Mbps download, 1.4 upload. Checked speed using vudu app on PS3 with poor results. During the speedtest, it bounced around between 1.5 and 4.5. Ran the test mutiple times with the same erratic results. I even ran the test on my laptop, while running it on the PS3 Vudu app. Laptop vudu speedtest ran at 6.058 Mbps while the speedtest via the PS3 using the Vudu app continued to be erratic (1.5 to 3.5 Mbps (as measured on the green bar in the speed test). My conclusion is the problem lies, not with ATT Uverse, but with the your app on the PS3. Perhaps Sony is the culprit?
Hope this helps. It is very frustrating for me. I tried playing Capote at HDX with the expected results, constant buffering. I'll leave the app on my PS3 for the time being, but, until this issue is resolved, there is no point in renting movies from you.

Re: Failed to run the application

I'm also getting this error, along with a "Failed to fetch package" error. It worked perfectly fine the last time I ran it a few weeks ago. When I went to run it last night, I was prompted to update the Vudu software, which I did. After that, I get one of these two errors every single time. I've reset my PS3, router (an old Apple Airport Extreme base station), and my cable modem. No dice.
Like I said, it worked just fine before the update, with exactly the same network setup, so I'm fairly certain that it's a software problem with Vudu, and not a router problem.
I truly hope this gets fixed soon.

Re: Failed to run the application

We have noticed that some Uverse customers are having trouble with streaming. This seems to effect VUDU users as well as other streaming services. We are communicating the problem and hopefully they will be able to get it solved.

But I'm not a UVerse customer. How does this pertain to my problem?

My apologies. When I clicked the link from the e-mail, the only post visible was mine, and your response to mine, so I assumed you replied to me. My mistake.
                  I'll PM you my info.

Here is Sony support response to my inquiry posted above:

                    "Hello Raymond,

I understand the concern caused by the trouble you are having when using the Vudu movie service on your PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system. There are a few items that can be adjusted within your PS3(TM) system and your local network to create a more stable connection to the PlayStation(R)Network. This can help with other features of the PS3(TM) system as well. First, I recommend that you disable your PS3(TM) system's Media Server Connection settings. This can be done by going to Settings > Network Settings > Media Server Connection > Disable.

If the issue persists, I recommend verying that the following ports are available within your local network. If you are not sure how to adjust settings within your network, it may be best to have your Internet provider in order to adjust these as it seems that they have access to them. I hope to help you resolve this issue shortly. Please let me know what you are able to find out.

                    TCP Ports: 80, 443, 5223, and 10070 ? 10080
                    UDP Ports: 3478, 3479, 3658, and 10070

                    Regards,
                    Richard K."

I will let you know how AT&T Uverse responds.

I have uverse and ran into the same issue on my ps3 and windows 7 laptop. Bummer. The last time I used the program several weeks ago, it worked fine. Now it is useless and I only found out after I purchased the movie. Ughh.

Could you you give your setup?
-exact make and model of your modem
-exact make and model of router if you have one in addition to the one provided by uverse.

if you can get it firmware version of your modem as well

I may need to have you run a trace route as well. If it's possible to speak on the phone, please send me a private message with your phone number and a good time to reach you.

                            ATT UVerse modem

                            Make - 2wire
                            Model - 3800HGV-B
                            Hardware Version - 2700-100531-006
                            Software Version - 6.1.9.24-enh.tm

Has firewall enabled.. That box has a ton of settings and i could figure out which IP is the PS3 and set it to DMZplus mode to allow all traffic to that IP.

                            I have 3 PCs/Blu-Ray/Xbox 360 and PS3 all connected to the modem via a 12 port D-Link 1000 Gigabit DGS-2208 switch.
