Can I share my Vudu movie collection with a family member in another state?

    Hello Vudu friends,

I am loving my Vudu and I've already built up a decent collection of movies and some TV shows (like Big Bang Theory). I watch Vudu almost every day.

My question is can I share my Vudu collection? I live in New York State. My brother lives in Florida. Can I share my library with my brother? If so, how do I set it up?

    Yes and No...

No, as in you cannot share your account with another user such as your brother.

    However,

Yes, if the Vudu movies/tv shows that you have are UltraViolet Titles, you can set your bother up with one of your 5 remaining UltraViolet accounts and have him create his own personal Vudu account and link to his UltraViolet account that you created for him. This way he has access to all movies and TV Shows that are UltraViolet enabled and accessible via Vudu.

That is good information - thank you. I will explore the details on uvvu.com and then contact my brother and step him through the process to open a Vudu account. When we do it, I will send him a "Refer A Friend" link from Vudu. Maybe I will qualitfy for a $3.99 vudu credit.

When your Brother opens a new Vudu account he will get 1 free movie. The selection is crappy and is only in SD quality but make sure he picks a movie that is Ultraviolet certified so that you will be able to view his free pick when you link accounts.

If you have really need to "step him through the process" it may be simpler for you to do it for him. Just use his email account -the credit card submission is optional - it can be skipped when you create account - so you don't need his credit card info.

Also note that with the $3.99 Referral credit you don't get it until your Brother or your referral spends money to buy or rent a movie on Vudu.

You get 1 free movie when you create a NEW UV account, not a NEW Vudu account. It's either the 1 free movie, or linked with your collection. His reply was misleading.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll link my brother to my UV account, have him open a Vudu account and see what happens.

The free movie is a Vudu offer.

That's not what it says here - http://www.vudu.com/free_movies_promotion.html

              Vudu states:

              "Get Free Movies
              To Start Your Collection

Get A Free Account Get A Free Movie"

The free movie is a Vudu offer. My UV Member accounts got a free movie and 'did not' create a New UV account. They are using my Master UV account.

Just made a dummy Vudu account and linked it to my Ultraviolet, I don't see this "free movie" anywhere for redemption.

Thank you and welcome to VUDU! We've got thousands of new releases, indies, & classics waiting for you right now.
                Enjoy VUDU tonight!
Please note: When you rent, purchase, or add a movie to our Wishlist on the VUDU website, that movie is also accessible from your VUDU account on any VUDU-enabled device.
The only section I saw for the free movie was for the UV creation, not Vudu creation. Just tested and no free movie for a new Vudu account (with linked UV account)

I believe its only if you create a new Ultraviolet account, regardless if you have a vudu account already... see:

Get 1 Movie When You Sign Up With Us Now

If you sign up for a VUDU account and create a new UltraViolet? account, you are eligible to pick a free movie from a list of participating movie titles for this promotion. If you're an existing VUDU user, but don't have an UltraViolet? account, you're eligible for this offer once you create a new UltraViolet? account on VUDU.
Sadly I didn't know this and had already created my UV account, however I did receive the 5 free movie promotion after my first D2D conversion!
