I never had a single program tell me i was not hdcp compliant and been running this system since 2009 with blurays (powerdvd 10 and 11) and now with HDHomerun Prime cablecard premium channels. Something must be up if multiple htpcs are getting this error. Any help would be appreciated.
    Here's the Flash/Access error description:

3342 The connected digital device doesn't have the correct capabilities. The connected digital device doesn't have the correct capabilities, for example, it doesn't support HDCP.

If there are newer drivers for your video card you may want to try installing them, that has helped in some cases (where older drivers have incorrectly reported HDCP capabilities). If that doesn't fix it, it sounds like a Flash player issue. You might try a different browser that may use a different plugin (Chrome vs. Firefox vs IE).

Of course it won't work... HDCP requires digital output, meaning it will only work with devices that are HDCP capable and using either a DVI or HDMI cable for connection...

Yes, VGA is not a HD medium, so how could a HD signal travel over an analog medium, and still come out looking HD? Impossible.

Actually thats not true. I have a cablecard setup in another room that was running dvi to hdmi from a laptop and i got that error and it told me to either get a hdcp connection or use vga. I switched it to a dvi to vga adaptor and i'm able to view my HBO HD in 1368x768 (i think thats what it is). But yes i know HDCP is for dvi and hdmi but it shouldnt be an issue for using vga/component and so forth which are all capable of 1080P.

So an Xbox 360 must not be HD then either by your interpretation.

IDK why it's working but see this, straight from Wikipedia:

"High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP; commonly, though incorrectly, referred to as High-Definition Copy(right) Protection) is a form of digital copy protection developed by Intel Corporation[1] to prevent copying of digital audio and video content as it travels across connections. Types of connections include popular ones such as DisplayPort (DP), Digital Visual Interface (DVI), and High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), as well as less popular, or now defunct, protocols like Gigabit Video Interface (GVIF), and Unified Display Interface (UDI)."

                  "HDCP revision / Supported interfaces
                  1.0 / DVI
                  1.1 / DVI, HDMI
                  1.2 / DVI, HDMI
1.3 / DVI, HDMI, DP, GVIF, UDI"

                  link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-ba...ent_Protection

My only guess would be the software is some how getting around it for you, but the standard is only for Digital interfaces making VGA not compatible.

Edit: After re-reading your post I see that your aware its only for digital interfaces. But like I said, the software must be getting around it and allowing you to use VGA, which is not technically compatible.

I don't have an Xbox, but I thought it used Component video, not VGA.

Correct! However, there was an optional VGA cord that you could buy to use it with a standard computer monitor. I had owned one a long time ago and probably still have it. I don't think they sell it anymore though...

In any case, if my cablecard told me i was cool with VGA, and my PowerDVD told me i was cool with the HDMI then i'm at a loss as to why the laptop wont play HDX and totally clueless why my HTPC cant play them. I would think playing blurays and HBO would be more stringent than Vudu.

In the end its not a big deal since i was not using it to begin with but now that the option is out there i wont have to buy a Roku or BD player if i can get it to work.

VGA may not be HDCP compliant but it can definitely play and display HD video/content. So the laptop idea is a no go since you HAVE to have HDCP for HDX streaming. Ok, i can live with that but what about my HTPC that is HDCP?

Jake,...my htpc is now playing HDX with IE9. I never use IE9 so not sure what to say about this. I would love for Chrome to work but its not happening. Uninstalling Chrome to see if anything weird happens.

When i loaded an HDX the browser flickered 2 or 3 times then it started playing. I tried 2 movies and they looked just as good as my PS3.

Unfortunately, these issues are pretty much out of our control. We are required to enable output controls (no HD over analog out, DHCP for digital out) for HD content, and it's up to the Flash player to enforce it. We have found some issues with the interaction of the graphics card driver, OS, and Flash player plugin in this case. For example, with some ATI cards if you quit and restart the browser it will work once before failing and requiring you to repeat that.

For Chrome, Google releases their own version of the Flash plugin with the browser (called a "Pepper Plugin") so it might take a bit longer before bugs like this are fixed...

I reinstalled Chrome and i still get HDCP error so it may be a chrome flash and ATI combo problem. Has anyone been successful with an ATI video card and Chrome?

So Jake, are all HDX PC streams in Stereo and not Dolby 5.1?
