CinemaNow and Rovi launch beta at home D2D service

Same prices as Vudu's D2D. It only specifically mentions DVD's so not sure if Blu-Rays are supported yet if you have a BD drive.

Just tried this and works like a charm......Inserted "The Wiz" DVD into my PC drive, Clicked on Disc to Digital in the software, it brought up a thumbnail of the disc and the option to buy SD or HD.....I chose HD, then checked my VUDU library, it was there, and in HDX!!!!,no muss, no fuss.....Better than having to venture to Wal-Mart to do it....

This is awesome, although the library is apparently different because I tried Madagascar 2 which is available at WalMart but it said not available from Cinemanow. They have to have a list available.

You can also download your UV collection and it in in WMV apparently although its not working for me since certifying my PC for HD downloads.

There are some notable titles are on the Vudu D2D list missing from CN's. But I did find one movie on CN's that is not on Vudu's which the remake of "3:10 To Yuma" (Vudu only has the original). There may be more.

Seems to work out pretty well. It found movies from those warner multi packs (Coma, Wolfen, Queen of the Damned, Etc..) that have one movie on each side. It did not find the multi packs with more than one movie per side (even if it was a d2d title) which I guess isn't too surprising. The thing that did surprise me is I bought a UK version of Jawbreaker mainly for a music video that wasn't on the US version. It found the PAL DVD and let me get the movie on UV.

oh they have Kill Bill 1 & 2, Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs! Sucks this is only for DVDs, because i upgraded my KBs to blu at bestbuy some time ago. But they do have a few of the dvds that Vudu doesnt have or doesnt offer HD for.

Does anyone know if you can pay in batches or is it one at a time?

Why do they get Deathly Hallows Part 2 and we get stuck with all but that one to finish our Harry Potter collections? How annoying.

One at a time. You insert the disc, hit scan, choose SD/HD, agree to charge to your credit card, and they add it immediately to your account.

It's pretty fast. Almost instant. This is one service that blows Vudu out of the water. All those movies that Vudu said they aren't adding because they have codes already (Green Lantern, Hangover 2, Harry Potter 7.2, etc....) are available through them. If only they let us use our blu rays instead.

I wonder if Blu Ray support is coming. I tried a few Blu Ray discs and it reads them fine. Is just doesn't let you buy the movies.

if they only offer it sd on their website you will only get sd. There disk2digital program does not cross check that so you may want to check on their site first.
