Is the WD TV Live Hub able to download rented movies?

        Gonna give this a bump.

I'm also wondering if there is anything new out there for downloading? I see the Vudu XL HD Video Download Box is selling for $129. Will it download my ultraviolet movies on Vudu? How about a PS3?

I wish Roku would come out with a box that can download. Anybody know of any new ones? Thanks

This sounds like a great idea for my hotel room. Need to know if it works for UV in HDX though. I have to believe someone on the forum still has one.

I don't know what an "XL HD" is, but I have the original Vudu STBs -- the BX100 and BX1000. They work great, they're very portable, they have lots of space, and they have the coolest remote! That said, on my last business trip I just downloaded movies via Vudu2Go onto my MacBook Pro that I would have had with me anyway for work and personal use, and the hotel had an HDMI-in port next to the desk, so I finally got to watch Zero Dark Thirty on my hotel TV...at no extra charge!

Vudu XL HD Video Download Box is the VBX1000

Were you able to download Ultraviolet movies too, or just movies you rented?

Both boxes can download most movies -- as you may have read, some licensing agreements prohibit downloading, but in my experience there are only a very few that do so. I believe I can download anything that I can download with Vudu2Go, but I'm not sure if that applies to rentals, as I haven't rented anything in a while. I can definitely download UV titles purchased elsewhere or redeemed via D2D, as those methods add the title to your Vudu collection in the same way purchasing does.

                  Re: Vudu HDX Download Devices

This is the box I found......http://www.amazon.com/Vudu-XL-Video-...words=vudu+box

With a 1 terabyte hard drive it would be worth the cost if it can download from my ultraviolet collection on Vudu. Only thing is it sounds like the Vudu boxes has been discontinued?? That's why I'm trying to figure out if any other boxes can download also....and maybe more stuff like amazon prime and netflix? Our internet streams fine in SD, but need to download for anything higher. Have yet to come up with a solution.

Thanks. I have a WD TV live I haven't used for awhile but this is the model with no hard drive. Does yours allow for downloading anyplace else, like Amazon prime or netflix?

Since it was only $50 I decided to give it a try. WD Live Hub with 1 TB is about $200. It does a lot more, but I don't want to invest a lot until UltraViolet CFF hits the street.

I'll post later on my results, after it arrives and I've tested it a bit.

For just using Vudu, it's very nice. The one thing that isn't immediately obvious is that downloading is only done when the box is idle, so don't queue up a bunch of downloads, browse some more, watch a movie, and expect them to be downloaded. Go run errands or go to sleep, they'll be downloaded later.

I found one used on Amazon. I don't see any more available.

Actually I used points, so it was free.

I just received my VBX1000. It connects to my LAN, but complains it can't access the Internet. I even tried connecting it directly to my cable modem. It gets an IP address, but complains it can't connect to the Internet.

I opened a support ticket, but I'm not sure what can be done.
