Does VUDU conflict with Audio Return Channel function???

I believe the VUDU app on my 70" Sharp Aquos needs to be fixed/updated.

When I go to watch anything through the tv VUDU app, I always have to go to my tv settings to turn my ARC (Audio Return Channel) from "auto" to "off" and back to "auto" for the sound to start working through my home theatre .

My Netflix app works flawlessly with the ARC function in auto. I do believe VUDU has a conflict because it lets you watch your current program in the corner of the screen with sound while you browse, of course once you click on a trailer or something the sound is missing.

VUDU please fix, Or I guess you don't want my money I'll have to continue using PSN (playstation network) or Netflix.

    Ker,

I'll see if it's possible to reproduce this in the office. Could you post your firmware version and VUDU client version?

Dan, I have the exact same problem as what's described in this thread. I have a case open with both Sharp and Vudu, but neither has been helpful. The Vudu support tech didn't even know what ARC is, so I'm doubtful he is going to be able to provide a solution.

The open ticket number is: CASE:265468

Anything you can do to assist would be very much appreciated. The folks at Sharp are likewise unable to provide a solution, despite resets and other "troubleshooting" and fiddling. Bottom line is ARC works fine with Netflix and DLNA sources, but the Vudu apps require me to manually toggle ARC on the TV or shutdown/restart the receiver. Then they work with ARC.

            Neil,

Can you reboot all your equipment then give this another try. We tried with multiple setups to reproduce the issue, but so far have been unsuccessful.

Does this constantly happen, or have you noticed it happens after you do something in particular? Has it happened on more than one movie?

I have reboot and reset things many, many times. This is a reproduceable and repeatable issue, and no other application (Netflix for example) is affected. I have the same Yamaha receiver model RX-V671. Same Vudu client version.

What is the status of my support case?

                            Hello...

Sorry to jump in late, but I just found this thread. I want to confirm I have the EXACT same issue with my Sharp Aquos LC70LE735U TV and my Onkyo TX-NR709 rcvr. ARC works perfectly for Netflix but fails on any VUDU app unless I go into my TV settings, shift the ARC enable from Auto to Off then back to Auto.

PLEASE keep this open and keep working the issue.

                            Paul

Paul, I would say you just need to live with it. The mantra that keeps getting repeated is that Vudu "cannot reproduce" yet it's clearly reproduceable, especially with the same configuration.

I just restart my receiver when switching to Vudu. It's a pain but not a serious pain, and less of a pain than dealing with a support team who is obviously not capable of or interested in finding the cause and solution.
