Re: Vudu to launch it's own at home D2D service!

I wonder why it's taking Vudu so long to launch.

I launch one every morning without fail at 7:30 am. Then I shower.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who checks the site every day like a crazy person

It's hard not to get excited and anxious for the at home service to come out. I really hope it doesn't get delayed, but I also want them to take however long they need so it's done right. If waiting another couple of weeks means less bugs in the system, I'll accept that.

If anyone was looking at this very affordable external Blu-ray player, their technical support said that it is not compatible with Macs. (Still might be a good choice for PC users, though.)

I'm getting impatient. I actually have gotten so impatient that I've taken some discs down to Wal-Mart for the D2D.. But their system has been down for a long time, and noone has came to fix it. It is also down at the next nearest location. I'm out of luck until the service arrives. CinemaNow couldn't recognize my Batman 1989 disc, and it recognized the rest of the films in the Anthology set.

Nothing new that we don't really already know but there is a small 2 minute interview with a Vudu/Walmart representative from CES 2013 over on YouTube about Vudu Disc to Digital at home.

Now come on Vudu.. I've got a nice big pile of blu-rays sitting here just waiting for this to launch. If your worrying about it being Beta software, then offer it to the guys on this forum. At least we're on Here regularly enough to be able to give you regular and quick feedback on any issues that crop up.

I am a Mac user. Can anyone recommend a Mac-compatable blu-ray drive that I can use when D2D at home service kicks in?

He didn't mention the addition of more studios to the D2D program. I'm wondering now if MGM is even going to join the program now?

I was looking at some external Blu-ray drives here: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/optic...s/superdrives/. I've never shopped there myself, but they seem reputable from what I could find.

I've been buying from them for many, many years and always had an excellent experience.

You can't knock Amazon though. If it's defective or not as described they take it back for a full refund and even pay the return shipping. They are not always the cheapest though and they do charge tax to many of us now.

                          Disney, please, PLEASE ! ! !

I know, I know, I'm dreaming. But hey. I still think that Wreck It Ralph that's going to be released digital weeks before physical disc is going to be UV and by Amazon.

IE Disney dropped their method and said they will do a digital locker with someone unnamed. Disney is already on iTunes.

Amazon said they will enter UV locker with an unnamed studio.

Sure Disney could be doing Apple. They already have that relationship. What with Steve, Pixar, etc but then who is Amazon going with? And Steve isn't around anymore either.

It was a year ago that Amazon said that. And the "un-named" studio is rumored to be Warner. But I think the Wal-Mart D2D deal put that decision on hold. At this point, I'm not sure if they will join until it's more mainstream. Like it needs 30 million users. Same with Disney. I think the at home D2D will help get us there much more quickly.

Disney (recently) did say Wreck It Ralph will be digital well before physical and that they also did drop the Disney locker so who is it then? Got to be Apple or UV. There really isn't much else.

They could just mean digital in the sense that they are giving it an early digital release like most studios do nowadays (Vudu, Amazon, itunes). They don't necessarily have to be UV.
