Yes. This. This can't be that hard. I prefer vudu to the google movies so I think chromecast adoption would be in your best interest. Thanks.

My MacBook and my iPad are too old to be compatible with Chromecast...and I still might get one anyway, in anticipation of replacing both aging devices. So I, too, would love to be able to use Vudu on a Chromecast dongle.

I will toss my hat in to this as well. I would love to have vudu support on my chromecast! from what I am reading, it shouldn't be a huge leap since there is already an app on the android market.

This is only true if you are forced to use the Chrome "Google Cast" extension to play the contents of the Chrome browser's tab on the Chromecast. Any service that explicitly adds "Cast" support to their apps/website will be streamed/played directly by the Chromecast dongle. The age of your MacBook/iPad won't matter.

                +1 to this.

A bunch of the major content providers have gone on record to say that they plan to support the Chromecast. Hopefully Vudu is not far behind.

Thanks, although in order to replace the 10' HDMI cord I keep in the drawer under the TV, I'd need to be able to play video content from Chrome that probably won't have an app, like Drupalize.me. But it would probably be worth it just for YouTube and Hulu. YouTube is available on TiVo, which is normally what we prefer for things like Netflix, but it's kind of a pain to log in and/or find YouTube videos on the TiVo compared to a laptop or desktop.

My Chromecast will be delivered on Monday and I can't wait to play with it!

It would be very nice to know that Vudu support is at least in the works.

It is possible to play movies on Vudu and "Cast the Tab" - then go full screen.

Certainly not as elegant as direct Vudu support, but will work in a pinch while we await official Vudu support.

From everything I've read, the Chrome tab mirroring is buggy at best (there's a reason it's still "beta"). There seems to be a ways to go before it's where it needs to be.

Several providers, such as HBO and Hulu, have announced they are working with Google to add Chromecast support, so I'm not sure why not so much as a peep has been heard from Vudu.

My best guess is that it's, as always, the studios. Right now, we can only stream SD from tablets/phones. However, if I'm sending a video to my TV, I want HDX. The studios have to determine if the Chromecast counts as a STB (think Roku, PS3) or a "mobile" device (iPad, Nexus 7, iPhone, Galaxy S4, etc.). If the content providers consider the Chromecast a STB-type item (which, imo, they should), they will have to figure out how to handle that exchange from mobile device to Chromecast, which could be quite tricky.

It's important to remember that integration with YouTube, Google Play, and Netflix is easier, since all of these services simply stream at the maximum (up to 1080p) your connection can handle. With Vudu, it's not just what your connection can handle, but what quality level the studios "allow", depending on device. This decision adds a layer of complexity to Vudu/Flixster that other video services don't have.

Of course, I could be way over analyzing this and Vudu simply hasn't gotten around to commenting on it.

Incorrect. Cast this Tab is not in beta.. never has been. Cast Entire Desktop is in beta and quality depends on the horsepower of the sending PC... Tab Casting does not... Also, Tab Casting is not available from Tablets.

Before I posted the earlier comment I Tab Cast "Flight" from my desktop PC in HDX - Chromecast quality set to Extreme (720 hi bitrate)... looked great.

.. Still want the app for 1080 and remote control from tablet... much nicer. Bring it Vudu!

"A beta aspect of the Chromecast experience is mirroring of desktop Chrome tabs."

In Engadget's review, they also list it as a beta feature, so unless the recent update to the Chromecast removed the "beta" tag, it's still officially a beta feature.
