    TIVO Support

I really want VUDU to work with TIVO to bring an app to the TIVO Roamio box and TIVO mini. The new TIVO is amazing but it is missing VUDU support which is a huge issue for me since I own tons of movies. I think it is the best streaming service because it has better picture quality and it works on most of my devices. I reallly hate having to switch TV inputs to go to different services which are available on different set top boxes.

My internet connection is really fast but is unreliable, so if/when the support comes, it needs to support downloads as well as streaming. I'd really love an option to purchase from the website and Android and iOS apps and send the download to my TIVO. Amazon supports this and it is nice to purchase and rent movies during the day and then to get home and have the movie already waiting for me on my TIVO with no buffering or random internet outages to worry about (Mediacom is terrible).

The new TIVO Roamio supports HTML apps so this should be an easy fix.

    Re: TIVO Support

I have been using TiVo for 13 years now and I don't recall any new sevices being added that weren't announced well in advance so it appears nothing is definite now regarding Vudu being added but I would think it is possible. Vudu has never been available with any TiVo model previously although I have never seen any comment from TiVo or Vudu representatives indicating there is a reason it can't be available. The Amazon Instant Video for download has been available since 2009 if I recall correctly but Amazon Prime Instant Video has never been available so TiVo either can't add some services or the company doesn't think it would be to their advantage.

I did a search this morning on TiVo Community to see if anything is planned regarding Vudu and came up empty but I am sure you aren't the first person to make this request.

I want VUDU on tivo as well. My wife hates switching between boxes. If tivo and VUDU were combined, we'd use both services more. This needs to happen. I thought it would happen when the Roamio came out. It be nice to have VUDU downloads like ps3, but I'd be ok with just the streaming as well.

        Re: TIVO Support

Why is Vudu on every device but Tivo? I personally am looking for alternatives to VUDU because accessing it from our blueray or TV is a waste of time when Tivo is our primary interface. Its all about how many remotes one wants to deal with!

VUDU, please adapt your app for Tivo!

I too would love to see a Vudu app for TiVo boxes, but in reality, I'd take just about any UV-compatible app at this point. It would be great if it were Vudu's since that's where I have the biggest library, but if I had to settle for something else just to get access to most of the library, I'd take it at this point.

This one doesn't make sense to me either. As said Vudu is pretty much quite literally on EVERYTHING BUT the Tivo for some reason. Even obscure equipment like the Channel Master DVR+ has Vudu. It's on pretty much every Blu-Ray, Roku, Google, etc.

I just saw a tweet that says the fall tivo update includes an app for vudu. Has anyone got this yet, and does it appear on the Premiere line?

Dammit! I just got a couple of Roku 3's mostly for VUDU, Amazon Instant Video, and Plex. Now it looks like the first two will be coming to TiVo (well, one of my two TiVos) in a few weeks:

...it appears Amazon Instant and Vudu apps are tentatively scheduled for a late November update.

Don't fret too much, I think I have about 10 devices at home that run VUDU (and have seen it on dozens more) and the Roku 3 is my current favorite. (the PS3/PS4 are a bit faster but why does Sony make it so hard to work with universal remote controls!?!)

I have a Roamio that allows for downloads of Amazon tv shows and movies, instead of streaming. Will the tivo vudu app allow downloads?

Good point(s), Jake! I love how much faster the Roku 3 is than my TiVo Premiere XL4 when watching Netflix and YouTube, so I'll probably stick with them now anyway. (The second TiVo is still an HD that I can't bear to replace while it's still working just fine. The Netflix app for that model is crap anyway.)

Excellent question! I'm really interested in the answer to that, too, as I have lots of space on my TiVo, and downloading should help avoid any buffering issues. Even my older TiVo HD lets me download from Amazon.

Amazon and Vudu are now on TiVo with the new SW.

No download for Vudu though, only stream.

                          Re: TIVO Support

I think this might be to little to late for Tivo.

They're finally add all the services they should have a long time ago, same with streaming from the dvr, same with one rate per household. But you still have to pay upwards of $500 for the hardware and another $500 for service. And it's not lifetime like Simple.TV where it's per account, it's per box and if you want / need to different box (broken, upgrade) you have to buy another $500 "lifetime", EVEN if you're only say 12 months into that lifetime.

The hardware / service fee's are still to expensive for what you get.

Roku and Tablo, Simple.TV, SiliconDust, or a ChannelMaster DVR are WAY better values even if they aren't quite in the same level.

So since the new(er) Tivo's now support Vudu and the hardware supports 3D does the Tivo version of the Vudu app support Vudu 3D movies ?
