Try using your web browser on your laptop or tablet PC without an internet connection. Like on a long car trip or an airport.

          +1 for a win 8 app!

That's why I use Vudu-To-Go when there is no internet connection available. #BOOM

Not entirely true. As mentioned previously, on a touch device, "apps" are optimized for touch. More importantly, there is existing code that can be used for apps versus browsers as the java that is used for the embedded devices (blu-ray players for example). Additionally, I have a win 8.1 pro desktop system and I cannot view HDX movies in my browser and end up having to switch video sources and use a blu-ray player to view something that could easily be viewed on my desktop system in its own screen.

Add another potential user to the chorus here.

And to the folks that say use the web browser or use Vudu-to-go, it is definitely not the same experience and is no where near optimized for use on a device where the Metro interface would be preferred.

The idea behind using apps is that the experience is completely optimized for the device and the interface. Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 (not RT, but full on Windows 8.x) may run desktop apps on the devices but that doesn't mean that a device like the Dell Venue 8 Pro is easy to use it on or would offer a reasonable experience. The desktop mode on the DV8P would be something that most users would want to avoid unless they want to carry around a mouse and/or a keyboard. The display is too small and the precision that is required for controlling the apps in desktop mode would frustrate most people.

Others can pooh-pooh the concept if they want but when/if they eventually wind up with a tablet or phone device they'll scream loudly that they really, really need and deserve a native app.

I concur I also want the app. Yes on a Windows 8 tablet I can watch Vudu through the browser. The biggest disappointment is I can not watch in HDX. The way I see it there are 2 possible solutions. A windows 8 app or the ability to watch HDX through the browser. Personally I would prefer the app as it would be more usable in a touch environment

                        Re: Windows 8.1 App Please

Yes Vudu needs to build the Windows 8 app as there are more than a few hundred million users now. Also now that they can build a Universal app (Windows 8.1/Windows Phone/ and soon Xbox One) they have no excuses.

Also one thing a do regularly is tweet to @vudufans and let them know we need a Windows 8.1/Phone app and others would be wise to do the same.

Yes, this would be very nice. There is a Flixster app for Windows 8. Why not a touch screen friendly Vudu app?
