Vudu To Go In-home D2D Table of Contents Generator (TOCGEN)

Taking this topic, from the In-Home D2D Bugs thread, to a new thread per the request of DanielH.

I'm curious how Vudu is using the inhomedvd.exe (TOCGEN) executable and associated DLL that are installed as a part of the Vudu To Go (V2G) In-home D2D application and/or why they're even there. What's interesting is the inhomedvd.exe (TOCGEN) app can read the discs even if the V2G software has a problem verifying a disc.

We know the V2G app has had it's share of problems and I'd be more than willing to help Vudu where I can to get some of these other issues resolved. I'm wondering if posting the output from the GN TOCGEN would be of any benefit.

With that said, the gnsdk_tocgen.dll used by inhomed2d.exe has a build date of 2013-05-05 12:42-0700 and is classified as a prerelease version.

I'm curious about this too. It's almost 1 Year later and the same versions from then are still in there now [3.5, 2013]. Its not like Gracenote hasn't updated because thier SDK is already at 3.7, atleast the one they offer to developers, and yet there have been no updates to this.

Did anyone at vudu respond to you about this?

If so i would like to know what they said. The other D2D apps use multiple extentions to help with thier disk recognition software. Maybe its time for a change? Incorporate something new in there. But its vudu so who knows.

Does anyone know anything regarding this?

No, no one ever responded to me in regards to this topic although I'd be more than willing to help them with troubleshooting the issue.

The other systems use the Rovi database rather the Gracenote system that is used by Vudu. However, this doesn't appear to be a Gracenote issue as far as I can tell since the same discs that generate a "There was a problem while verifying this disc." error message, with VuduToGo, display correctly on my Oppo BDP-103 Blu-ray player which has a Gracenote lookup feature.

For example, the VuduToGo software throws the above message for Universal's Casper Blu-ray release (UPC 0-25192-18403-1) but my Oppo blu-ray player identifies this release just fine.
