    DVD + Digital Copy

    Hey Everyone,

So I am just trying to find just regular DVD movies with an ultraviolet digital copy on amazon but not having any luck. I found them for Gravity and The Hobbit 2, but I cant find it for Ride Along, Thor 2, and Frozen. Do they exist or is there something I am doing wrong because I dont see them anywhere on the site.

The titles you cited are WB titles, which are UV-only in the digital copy realm, so the Vudu competitor you mentioned probably has no choice but to carry those titles. I suspect they get non-UV versions from other studios when possible so they won't inadvertently be sending buyers into the arms of their streaming competitor with their movie purchases.

Ok sorry I think im a little confused and that i might not have wrote this correctly. When I mean digital copy I just mean a UV copy. is that the same thing?

So since they are WB will they not have a DVD + UV code

My bad, I misunderstood your post. Thor 2 and Frozen are not UV, but you can go to digitalcopyplus.com and redeem the codes there, and you will be given the option to redeem on Vudu, Amazon or iTunes. Plus you can enter the codes at disneymovierewards.com and get the DMR points, plus you will get the copy in your Disney Movies Anywhere account, and subsequently iTunes.
Not certain about Ride Along, though.

So for instance I am looking on amazon at Thor and Frozen DVDs

They dont say anything about digital copies so doesn't that mean they don't have them or they aren't advertised like UV and the insert will be there

None of Disney are UV. However, movies like Frozen can be purchased with "Digital HD Digital Copy" that you can redeem here on Vudu and you get your digital copy loaded into your Vudu account for streaming. That doesn't make it UV.

Also, be aware that there is something else called "Digital Copy", like the Blu-ray version of Thor. That digital copy cannot be redeemed on Vudu and is worthless (in my opinion).

              Re: DVD + Digital Copy

Keep in mind that if Vudu gets linked to Disney Movies Anywhere those Digital Copies will be passed through from the other provider (a la UV from other vendors passed to Vudu) and become worth a lot to the Vudu purists. Of course that's off topic and a big if/when.

If there is no Ultraviolet labeling on the cover art, it probably doesn't include the UV copy.

The dvds for Thor 2 and Frozen do not come with digital copies and these movies are not UV enabled.

                  Re: DVD + Digital Copy

Some studios like Disney do not place a Digital Copy of any sorts inside the DVD packages just their Blu-ray packs.
For instance Thor 2 you need to buy the 3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray + Digital HD package (No DVD included) this is the only way to get a digital copy with purchase of a physical copy of Thor 2. For Frozen your looking for Collectors Edition Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD. For Ride Along get the Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD(UV) package. Now some releases do not release with any digital copy except for Wal-mart stores get special packs that include Vudu copy.

Right, not the DVDs. You have to get the Blu-ray and the cover should say "Digital HD Digital Copy". Redeem that on Vudu and you can stream on Vudu.

Yes, that is true. Those two titles were released before they started calling it "Digital HD Digital Copy" and the digital copies for those movies work the same way (you can redeem and stream on Vudu).

Just be aware that most Disney titles that say "Digital Copy" will not be available to stream on Vudu.

Actually a good number of Disney DVD's from last year come with a digital copy with Vudu as an option including:
                          Oz the great and Powerful
Robin Hood Sword in the Stone
                          Little Mermaid
                          Peter Pan
                          Iron Man 3
                          Mary Poppins
                          and others
