VUDU App "Broken" on XBox One

    To Whom It May Concern

VUDU app on the XBox One seems to be broken. After multiple attempts it keeps stopping and freezing during viewing a film. I've not completed a movie viewing on VUDU app since i got the XBox One for the holidays. I've been doing some research on this matter and it looks like lots of people having similar issues for a long time now. As a long time loyal VUDU "Customer" My Question is, is the VUDU staff working on a fix for the app on XBox One. A immediate response to this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When do you start to see this problem?

    Thanks

Since you say you've been researching it, have you tried disconnecting/disabling the Kinect, which has been the source of many of these issues? Since it's constantly trying to read people and gestures, it takes up a lot of processor time.

Also, while a few Vudu staff members do read these forums, you might get better results by contacting Vudu support via the top menu (click on your name when you're signed into Vudu).

I've experienced the same issue off and on recently. I had buffering issues before but those appear to be fixed. Now I am having the same stopping and freezing issues you mention. It doesn't happen every time but it has happened a few times recently. I do not have a Kinect. The whole Vudu Xbox One app is in need of a complete overhaul. I'm surprised it has taken as long as it has.

How does your Xbox1 connect to the internet? Does it go through a router? What we recently found is that when the Xbox1 is connect to the internet through a bad router (it resets itself occasionally), then VUDU movie playback freezes because its connection to the server is screwed up. We are still investigating this issue. Your inputs is highly regarded.

              Thanks

Yes it goes through a router. I got a Cisco EA4500 Dual-Band N900 Router. But i also Run my PS4 & PS3 through a router as well and VUDU works fine. I have my Xbox One in my living room as my main media TV device.

We found that the problem happens when the CDN connection is lost. We are making a fix and hopefully release soon. You said that you did some research and found out a lot of people having these problem. We like to know how you get to this conclusion.

                  Thanks

Thanks Jun! Any chance we will get a new interface for the Xbox One anytime soon? Another person from VUDU Engineering hinted that we might get one soon.

I would categorize it as "eventually" - I'm not sure you could quite call it "soon".

                        Any updates on this update?

After nearly a year of flawless playing on my Xbox One (plugged directly into my Verizon Fios N router), for the last couple of months, every single movie crashes 2-3 times and requires me to relaunch the app entirely. No issues streaming Netflix or Amazon Prime, so it appears to be specific to Vudu only, and it's frustrating that the problem seemingly popped up after working perfectly for me throughout the first year of the Xbox One lifecycle.

From my use of Vudu I have not had any issues on my Xbox, have watched 6 movies in HDX so far since starting to use Vudu last week. Although I would love a better ability to view my catalog of movies.

Yeah, is there any new news on this? Any time I go to watch VUDU on my Xbox One it will stop the show and say "Sorry, VUDU movies isn't available right now" and says to check Xbox.com/status for details, but it always comes up okay. This constantly happens now seemingly out of no where.

Re: VUDU App "Broken" on XBox One

Chalk me up as another unsatisfied VUDU on XboxOne owner. I've used this app on my friend's system with Kinect, and my own without a Kinect. We both have zero issues with Netflix or Amazon streaming, and I have zero issues with PS4 VUDU HDX quality. Meanwhile not only is the VUDU interface hot garbage by comparison to the PS4, but connection issues, and streaming quality suffer greatly despite being on the same router/connection as my PS4.

Key to people using your app, is having the software work- preferrably better than your competitors. I love VUDU vs. other streaming apps ON MY PS4 that is- Vudu was so bad on my pals XboxONe as it constantly changed video quality mid movie, that he decided to delete the app.
