Desperately seeking a local Walmart that actually does D2D

I live in the central Ohio area and it is getting pretty ridiculous. I have quite the stack of movies that are supposed to work with vudu2go but don't (Jurassic Park for example) I have been trying multiple Walmart around the Columbus area and non of them seem to be working. Sometimes they say the person isnt in, others say their system is down, or they cant log in. I am asking if anyone in central Ohio has actually taken movies to a Walmart and got them converted and what store was it if you have? I feel like this is a long shot, but who knows, maybe I'll get lucky here.

If someone like i8urfries is having trouble finding stores around Columbus it doesn't bode well for folks like myself in really small towns with a single Wally store.

What is the closest Walmart to you? Go in and ask for it. If they tell you no, or don't know how to do it, call 1-800-Walmart and complain. They will ask for the store location and the staff will be trained in how to use it. This is the best method. You could keep driving around blindly looking for a store that knows how, but it's much better in the long term to get your local store trained in the process.

Every store can do it, it's only a matter of training.

Every walmart has instructions to the Vudu instore process, all they have to do is find the instructions page and go step by step. I've gone to walmarts where no one knew how to do it, I went to one and asked them to find the instructions in there little binder and then walked an employee through it with the instructions and she is now a pro at it. I still like going to my walmart that's closer, but their system was down for a bit. Funny thing though, the employee there was actually on top of it and kept calling IT to fix it until it got fixed and even kept me up to date. Now that's customer service.

I don't live in central Ohio but I think all the stores have the same procedure. I had to go to three different ones recently before I found one which actually had three workers who knew how to do it. They logged in on the computer (at the photo center or registers in entertainment section), went to something called "Digital Services," found VUDU under "more applications," and were able to log in with a password that they have on file. They then asked me for my phone number and email address which logged into my account. They check the Blu-Ray or DVDs and stamp it. All they need to do is select the movies in one section on the screen and add it to the check out cart.

Any thoughts of expanding to have other stores perform the D2D service? I just went to the brand new Walmart in Grand Rapids, MI and they have signs everywhere promoting "Powered by VUDU" or whatever, but the people at the photo center just stared at me blankly when I brought a bunch of Blu-Rays and DVD's in. Finally, a manager stopped by, played with the computer a little bit, and said the system is down and they have to contact Fuji. This was communicated to me in the usual helpful Walmart manner of mumbling and then walking away. So great...

Anyway, please consider expanding to other chains as, after reading these forums and having my own pleasant experience, Walmart is clearly not up to the task.

Considering that Vudu is owned by Walmart, I highly doubt this will ever happen. I do wish they would fix the issues though.

As of Last Week, King of Prussia was unable to do them due to a remodeling in the electronics dept. The guys who took the counter apart and put it back somehow ended it's ability to communicate with Vudu. Sadly that was the only store that was able to do it in my area.

I checked with the following stores:

Address: 650 S Trooper Rd, Norristown, PA 19403
Phone610) 631-6750 -- these guys told me they "no longer know their password and haven't for months and no one at Vudu will tell them what it is"

                and...

Address: Hilltown Crossings Shopping Center, 1515 Bethlehem Pike, Hatfield, PA 19440
Phone215) 997-1670 -- this store told me that "Vudu has been down company wide since Christmas". When i pointed out that King of Prussia hadn't been having any trouble he said, "They are one of the very few stores that hasn't had an issue." I knew he was lying and tried to catch him. I said, "But I had it done in your store in February" (for the record, I did not.) He replied, "Oh yeah, it came back briefly in February and then crashed again."

Re: Desperately seeking a local Walmart that actually does D2D

Hi guys, I am new to posting in the forum but I've been around Vudu quite sometime. I finally decided to join in the conversation as I work for Walmart and know your frustrations. I live in a small town in West Plains, MO. Fortunately I was over the electronics area when Disc to Digital was first implemented in the stores. I have used the service quite a bit myself, and have taught many of the people here how to use it as well. The kiosk in the connection centers (cell phones) is where they generally preformed this in our stores, but they no long connect well with the service. However, our photo lab finally got switched over to a dry lab and got a lot of new equipment within the last year. The computer they use over there is much quicker and reliable.

That being said I believe that it is an issue for a lot of the stores because as you know, there is not a ton of people that use the service on a regular basis, so the training for this service is almost non-existent. I wish I could have the opportunity to become an official trainer and train all the stores lol. I just don't think that this is possible. But most of you are right. The actual instructions on how to do this service should be available on The Wire (the companies web system) but most of the stores should have them all printed out and kept in binders if they followed instructions when it was first implemented. I also find from personal experience, that it is easier to add all the titles from home, so when you get to the store they don't actually have to search for each title, it will already be listed when they pull up your account and within a few clicks they can have a bar code printed and ready for check out (they would just have to verify the disc is in front of them).

When Instawatch was introduced into the stores I did give feedback that the stores needed training on the new service as well as Disc to Digital. I also recommended possibly putting in a kiosk that people can use to insert their own movies and use D2D right in the store wihout having to use an associate (unless a disc needs verified). Those were just some of my ideas to help streamline the process but as a low man on the totem pole so to speak I don't know how financially viable that would be.

After calling 1-800-Walmart and reporting these incidents I finally got a callback from the manager of the 650 S. Trooper Rd store. She assured me that she would have her staff trained and have D2D up and running by next week.

Still no word from the Hatfield store where the guy just lies and makes up answers.

I went to a local one yesterday and was there for over an hour. I would have left but they already stamped my disc. Never did get it to work. It kept timing out on them. They called some support number and was told it was because there was an expired card on my account. No there isn't because I just bought something like two weeks ago and I just checked.

Now I got to go in again and hope those people remember me since my disc are stamped. I was only doing two of them Ladybugs and Returning of the Living Dead 3. They won't read on the download.

This is why I know when the one guy who knows how to do D2D works. I've tried other Walmarts and it is never a stress free experience, so to save myself all the headache, I just wait and go when I know that one employee is working. And I've asked him and he does a lot of D2D business. Not really surprising since they have a guy who knows what he's doing. It's ridiculous to say, "Well, we don't ever do it so why train employees in D2D." If you're turning away all the people who want to do in store D2D, how do you know how much business you're losing??

                              THIS IS NOT TRUE!!!

Call 1-800-Walmart and report this! EVERY Walmart store CAN do D2D. It has been discontinued NOWHERE. If a store employee tells you this they are either misinformed, or flat out LYING. One or the other. Call 1-800-Walmart, report this, and the staff will be trained on the procedure.
