UHD/4K Vudu Support on Xbox One S?

Now that 4k/UHD is officially coming to the console. It's nice to see that Amazon and Netflix were mentioned for streaming, but it would be excellent if Vudu supported it also!!!

The Vudu app is pretty terrible on the Xbox One and could use a re-write. This would be awesome if they released a new Universal Windows App that worked on the console/mobile/pc (Xbox One, Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile) and support UHD/4K.

    The timing would be perfect....

Unless Sony includes 4K UHD disc play back in their refresh, I'm probably going to pull the trigger on an Xbox One S as a 4K UHD disc player.

At $299, with gaming and other apps, seems like a great deal for a 4K player even if you almost never game.

Hopefully VUDU can work 4k with the XB1S even tho it seems to only support HDR10. Who can say no to 4k streaming, UHD Blu-ray & gaming console in one package. Please make it happen VUDU!

It's pretty amazing that there is no UWP Vudu app. The app the Xbox One uses is at least six years old. They have updated the app pretty much everywhere else. But every time we ask about a UWP app or new xbox one app, Vudu replies with crickets.

+1 and agreed. Even without the dolby support there is no reason VUDU can't do 4K on the Xbox one S, as we have seen with the nvidia shield it works fine without dolby.

Need this ASAP. New app UI and UHD support for sure. HDR would be icing.

Yep, adding my voice everywhere for this request. Needs an update anyway for XBox due to the ancient UI. 4k capable app on the new XBox One S. I have several UHD titles from Vudu. Amazon and Netflix both working fine for 4k for me.

Re: UHD/4K Vudu Support on Xbox One S?

I completely agree Vudu needs to get their act together on this one. I have a roku 4 hooked up to my tv and it does Amazon, Vudu, Netflix 4k streaming just fine.

I had been wanting a UHD player of some sort and since I still only had an xbox 360 the combination of getting the Xbox One plus UHD playback was a no brainer for me.

However I had no idea the vudu app was soooo terrrible. I have gotten used to the redesigned app on my tv's, android and IOS devices and was wondering wtf when i installed the app on my xbox one.

                    Come on vudu.

Could we get a mod to comment on where this falls in their "priority" list? Jake? Anyone?

This should be a priority. I get that the Xbox One S doesn't support Dolby Vision and HDR10 instead but they should still allow UHD streaming as an option.

I see that now. Still doesn't make any sense why they wouldn't build a Windows 10 Universal app and port it to Xbox One. There are far more users of Xbox One and especially Windows 10 compared to something like the NVIDIA Shield which is niche at best. There is a Windows app I know but it's lousy and doesn't work in full screen. VUDU has really lost its multi-platform mojo as it used to support all the major platforms and update regularly.

I agree. With Windows 10 universal apps, Windows and Xbox being more capable, and such the time it ideal for VUDU to make a killer app.

This kind of makes me regret buying into "Walmart's" ecosystem. At least if I went with Amazon I know they would update the app and it would work anywhere. This whole watch anywhere is nonsense at this point because who is properly supporting it (If you call it supporting) besides Vudu/Walmart? You might as well buy into a closed ecosystem.
