Do digital copies that come with 4K blu rays redeem in 4K?

I'm trying to decide whether I should make the jump to purchasing 4K discs with digital copies despite not having gear yet. Just trying to future proof.

Codes from 4K Blu-Ray discs should redeem as follow:

    Warner Bros:
    Flixster: Redeems UHD
VUDU: Redeems UHD (if available in their catalog)

    Lionsgate:
    Flixster: Redeems UHD
    Redeems HD elsewhere

    Sony:
    Sony Pictures Store: Redeems UHD
    Redeems HD elsewhere

    Fox:
    Redeems HD everywhere

    Paramount:
    Redeems HD everywhere

This does not always appear to be the case as some users are reporting just recently that Batman vs. Superman UHD is not redeeming as UHD on Vudu so I would use Flixster instead.

    3 UHD
    750 HDX
    2 SD

To summarize if it's a WB, Sony, or Lionsgate movie it's worth buying them now (for most titles) as you get the UHD UV rights.

Those are currently the only 4k movies I'm buying right now.

What isn't the status of this? Has it changed at all?

For right now the safest thing to do is redeem the UHD disc codes as advised on the slip itself. WB is pretty much safe to redeem to redeem on wb and make sure you get proper UHD UV rights. Others are touch and go right now.

When people are talking about Flixster in this thread are you talking about Flixster Video or Fandango Now? There is some naming confusion after the purchase of some parts of Flixster by Fandango. Also when I found this it seems like Flixster Video connection to UV is going away to some degree? You can redeem a code but not buy? How does that work?

For what it's worth, I tried The Revenant [20th Century Fox] from an UHD bluray and it only came through on Vudu as HDX.

Fox has publicly stated their UHD disc do not now and have no current plan to redeem as UHD Digital.

As has been mentioned in multiple places it's largely just Warner right now with some other random titles from random studios.

Make sure you are redeeming the slips at the website recommended on the slip. For example Sony UHD redeem as HDX on Vudu but if you redeem with Sony direct you get UHD rights, but it's only playable on Vudu as HDX, for now. Redeem it on Vudu and you loose those UHD rights for the future.

This is all so ridiculous and frustrating. Why can't all the studios just offer the same streaming quality for the quality of disc that you purchase?! Seems like a fair, consistent, and easy approach.

So if I redeem it through the website listed on the instructions I should get the 4k? I did this with batman V. Superman and only have HDX

Buddy gave me his codes for Ender's Game, The Magnificent Seven, and Passengers. IIRC I redeemed them all through the URLs listed on their slips and Ender's Game (Lionsgate) redeemed as UHD. Mag 7's page at Sony said that it would redeem at UHD, BUT it would only play UHD on Sony TVs; all others would be limited to HDX. Initially, it showed as only HDX but a couple days later it converted to UHD. OTOH, Passengers redeemed on the Sony site has remained solely HDX for two months now.

Upthread someone posted that Lionsgate movies only redeem as UHD through Flixster (which I dumped for Vudu due to their lack of apps), but Ender's Game redeemed in full via the site on the slip and I bought a code from a Family Video store for $5 which must've come from the retail 4K disc they had surrounded by the usual rental edition BD copies and was pleasantly surprised to see it redeem as UHD in the Vudu app on my phone.

It really appears to be a crapshoot. Still waiting for definitive word as to whether Guardians 2 will come with a 4K code or not.

Well, I registered my copy with what the slip disc said and it registered it with Disney Movies Anywhere with linked account to VuDu, even though I bought the UHD version, it only gave me the HDX version...I'm beyond ****ed, I really wanted the Dolby Vision version. I should have choose to register it with VuDu and not with DMA. Sending a bunch of emails now to see if I can get this fixed somehow!
