iTunes purchases syncing through Movies Anywhere to Vudu as SD.

After linking my iTunes, Vudu, and Amazon Video accounts with Movies Anywhere I decided to purchase "War for the Planet of the Apes" on iTunes. The price was the same ($19.99) as Vudu and I would be assured I could stream the iTunes movie in 4K since Vudu does not currently offer a UHD version of it. The movie synced across all accounts just fine. However, I just noticed that the movie in my Vudu library is listed as SD and not HDX!!

I've already send a support email to Vudu about it but wanted to give a heads up to others and to see if anyone else was having the same issue.

I noticed the same thing on Vudu. "Captain Phillips" which I own from Google Play in 4k is SD on Vudu. Also, "Hostel Part III" which is own in HD on Amazon is SD on Vudu.

    71 UHD
    798 HDX
    2 SD

Similarly, I redeemed the UHD code of Close Encounters of the Third Kind on the Movies Anywhere site and while it populated as HD or higher in other services, it only ported to Vudu in SD. Possibly there's a mapping issue between UHD redemption rights when Vudu doesn't have UHD available?

Re: iTunes purchases syncing through Movies Anywhere to Vudu as SD.

I heard about this thread on the BR forums.

Bringing along some experiences and data points from several places.

My 4K Logan and Alien Covenant were redeemed in iTunes and ported SD in Vudu and Google Play, however it came in 1080p on Amazon but with no Noir Extra with Logan

Others have reported mostly other Fox 4K codes and also a similar issues with 4K movies like Rough Night and Starship Troopers redeemed directly on MA ending up the same way.

Here are ways to check quality.

              Vudu - obvious
Amazon - Android Prime Video app with "best quality" chosen in the options will indicate "1080p" on the lower left of the screen.
Google Play - go to your library in YouTube and try to change the quality. If the max is 480p, it's SD
iTunes - go to purchases under my account on iTunes PC and will say "HD" or "4K, HDR"

Also Resident Evil: The Final Chapter transferred in to my Vudu account as SD, even though it was part of an HD bundle on iTunes. All of the other films transferred in as HDX.

This happened to me as well with Alien: Covenant purchased on iTunes shows up as SD on Vudu.

iTunes listed quality is Movie(4K, HDR).

This affects all movies that are available in 4K on iTunes, but that are unavailable in 4K on Vudu. The best fix would be for Vudu to get everything in 4K , but it seems the system registers incoming resolution as SD instead of HD when 4K is unavailable, and hopefully that is fixed.

Add me to the list. Alien Covenant is showing as SD for me, although purchased as 4K in itunes.

Put me down for The Mummy (2017) 4K in iTunes transferring to Vudu in SD
Also Fate of the Furious 4K in iTunes transferring to Vudu and only giving me HDX when UHD is available for that one. Hopefully this can get fixed too.
