I can't really say...it was too much trouble for me to try to get either my old WinXP or OSX 10.6 system to play a blu-ray. Especially when I can convert most of them to HDX and watch them with VuduToGo!

What OS will you be using? If I have it (and I have time), I can plug the drive in and see how it does.

Here is the link for it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Using this player I've been able to get the DVDs I've tried so far to convert.
Does it work well for playing blurays? If I get one I might as well use it to add playback while I'm using it for converting DVDs.

Pardon my stupidity, I asked the wrong person, but I'll answer you anyway. I'm going to using windows 7, I have a quad core AMD 2.9gig, 1.5gig FSB, fastest memory possible. The only bottle neck I can think of would it playing through USB. I just wonder if that would cause the bluray playback to be choppy or unstable.

I'll try to bring it in to work, where I have access to a Win7 PC.

            Cool!

By the way, Vudu support is absolutely no help on this whatsoever. I'm thinking they don't want to admit that their software wasn't ready for prime time.

They'll only tell you that it's in "Beta" so that it's not supposed to work fully which is true as much as I hate to admit it.

For AMD chipset, probably BlurayFan has provided the solution to make sure BIOS doesn't have RAID and set at AHCI.

Playing back your Bluray via USB is NOT a VUDU problem. In fact you don't use VUDU software to playback your Bluray content.

There are many things to optimize your system for BD playback.

Pardon my ignorance. What is your problem?
DVD disc detection or BD via USB playback or something else?

They were discussing the DVD disc Detection and how the VUDU Beta Disc conversion was not reading it. Someone proposed using an external disc reader and someone else followed up by a simple question asking if the disc reader plays dvds/blu-rays) The main problem is the VUDU to go not being able to recognize any discs.(I have this same problem and support after listing the known way to fix the problem, which did not work, said they would check into it)

The Question about the External reader's playback is irrelevant to support and those trying to help (outside the person being asked that is.) Hope that helps!

Thank you for clarification. As for your issue, there are 4 solutions that I know of:
                        - AMD chipset: check the BIOS for RAID setup (BlurayFan found this fix)
                        - Intel chipset: update the IRST
                        - nVidia SATA: need to update the driver.
                        - DVD clone software installation (AnyDVD, Slysoft clone): please disable them

Please let me know the 4 solutions do not work for you. If so can you please describe your system:
                        - Make, Model
                        - Board/SATA chipset
                        - DVD drive model
                        - Any special software that may impact HDD/DVD/SATA performance/DVD ISO mount ...

                        Thanks,
                        LLN

All That I tried after reading this post the first time. I have a 2012/13 Toshiba Satellite. No Extra Stuff installed except vudu to go (after this started happening i did install the cinema now and flixster apps to do a few d2d I removed them after) All the Drivers are up to date No DVD Clones on my system. I play everyhing through windows 8 or vudu. And I have my system preset to Region 1. Nothing was wrong with the D2D (except the occasional wrong movie verified) before the update. Or at least on my end.

You have not given me the model ID so I cannot check for hardware configuration. The model should be P855, L745 ... I need that for research about any hardware/driver issue or trying to reproduce the issue here.

Please keep in mind that the Intel Rapid Storage Technology is not included in any windows system upgrade, nor it would prompt you for a newer version. Even Intel website driver upgrade detection does not tell you about the upgrade. It can only be found with Control Panel/Program Features.

If you can check hardware device manager and see if it has Intel chipset. You can go ahead and install the latest IRST. It won't hurt your system as if you don't have correct hardware it will just be disabled or not allow you to install.

Sorry this took me a while, I haven't been in the office that much this week. I've got the drive hooked up, but VLC tell me:

                                Blu-Ray error:
This Blu-Ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it.
It may be part of the disc that came with the drive, but all I really use it for now is D2D, and it can identify discs as-is, it just can't play them.
