Not a bad deal in comparison.

    $85 = NEW @ Amazon - $75 for both box sets + $10 for Vudu D22

    $60 = USED @ Amazon - $50 for both box sets + $10 for Vudu D22

Personally this week I grabbed a used set of both box sets for D2D, hope they both work ok. Know some of movies likely won't. No big deal though.

I bought the 5 two-movie DVD packs for $10 each (with a $5 Vudu coupon on each) and D2Ded them at home during the special offer for $2.50 each, except for IV, which I had to do in store, and Nemesis and III, which I already had. Net cost $47.50 for all 10 movies in HDX...would have been $52.50 if I needed to D2D the other two, and less if in-home D2D worked flawlessly.

I love the newer movies, never seen these classics. Are they worth it for a blind buy?

That's a tough call. For some it's not a lot of money. When you consider you're getting 10 major theatrical motion pictures it's a real good deal.

Are you a fan of Patrick Stewart?

Are you a fan of William Shatner?

Do you love campy 90's and especially 80's Sci-Fi movies?

If so you might be good to roll.

You might also check out some of the trailers and clips on IMDB.

I haven't watched any of them in a while and I'm in way a Star Trek nut but I'm going to pick it up, especially since these Vudu specials NEVER really roll around a second time. They generally move on to something different, or the price is just never as sweet.

Except iTunes was having a fire sale on franchises a couple of weeks back, including Star Trek, for $10-$15 for the whole series in HD. I like Vudu, but not that much.

I was having this discussion with someone else last week.

I know Apple isn't hurting and neither is iTunes. But I swear that the movie portion of iTunes is "starting" to hurt.

Roku finally started to outpace Apple in the hardware realm. Disney just walked away from their exclusive relationship with Apple. A lot of studios are no longer giving away iTune copies free with blu-ray.

And for me, initially iTunes was never 1080P, still doesn't have 3D, or high end audio (IE 7.1), and I don't want to have my collection in multiple places.

Apple never gives anything away. I think there's a reason they were having a fire sale on video titles.

Some people were speculating that it was a glitch in the software, because the prices were back to normal within a few hours, and it didn't work for people on some platforms. There was a thread about it on the blu-ray forums.
