Re: NOT GETTING SOUND IF TITLE IS IN DD+

Looks like LG did not release the update. You need version 8.31.448 or later.
    I contacted LG.

Sorry for this. I got an email from LG last week indicating that their network update happened.

We just verified with LG that 8.31.448.C is now available for download on all BD590's and BD570's.

I am having this issue too with my LG BD550. It started with the latest firmware update.

If you change your pass thru options to PCM, then lose dolby digital on your Blu Ray player output!! Yeah it will make sound, but all of your blu ray discs and anything else ( Vudu ) will output in stereo. That means your receiver will end up 'decoding' it depending on its settings. But that is just a fakeout, not real dolby digitial 5.1 surround sound.

Shame on them for giving that as a resolution!!

            VolkerS,

I understand LG says that the new update is available, but when I check online it still only shows the update that I already have? I also tried to update direct thru the player but it also says I have the current update. Could the update that LG is saying is available be on a non-US web site?

We did test the direct update last week and it worked for our LG-BD590.
LG said that their web update is still not up to date, so they recommended the direct update to the player. Can you please double-check your version?

I tried to update from the setup menu direct thru the player but it says it's up to date, I still have the April update. (usually it prompts me immediately after start up if there's an update!). I E-mailed LG support and they haven't got back to me yet! I guess I'll keep waiting but my patience is starting to wear thin.

Please keep trying. Sometimes LG upgrade server can be in maintenance mode. I just tried to search for upgrade again from the device and I could see a new firmware BD.8.31.348.C from the current BD.8.31.339.C.

                  Here is what I did.:
                  - Go to Setup
                  - Scroll down to OTHERS
                  - Scroll down to Software
                  - Select Software and then Update
I assume the internet connection is good and ready via wired or wireless. Please do the network test before checking the new firmware.

                  Thanks,
                  LLN

Re: NOT GETTING SOUND IF TITLE IS IN DD+

I finally got a reply from LG product support, and they said that they have "not" released the new firmware to the public yet (either by automatic update or via their website) because it is still being tested. They informed me that it will be release very soon and to keep checking for the update.

                          Hi Sarasdad,
on Playstations all DD+ titles will be sent as multi channel PCM. DD titles will play in DD. You will not loose your surround sound over HDMI. This has always been that way. PS3 does not support DD+ for games. Please check the PS3 specific discussions in our forum. This one was for LG.

How did you update, auto through the player? Are you from the US? Because mine won't update automatically and the US website still has not updated yet.
