Re: Download Must be an available option

That's a pretty cool new feature. I went the route of buying two BX100s and a BX1000 to store my movies a while back.

      Dear VUDU:

Could I have some updated clarification on this subject of rentals being able to be downloaded for playback at a later time.

A couple months ago when I rented a VUDU movie on my PS3, I saw an option to ?Download for Later? along with ?Watch Now? and ?Cancel.? It now appears that the Download for Later option is no longer available. (At least among the half-dozen movies I looked into today.)

Has that functionality been withdrawn entirely, or only available on some titles?

As I am the one that originally posted this thread, I wanted to thank VUDU and let them know that I have been more than pleased with the download option on the PS3. It makes me more happy than anything, thank you for listening and granting my wish!

        You have my loyalty,

(please do not ever take this feature away)

Tonda, were you talking there only about purchase-downloads? Can you also do rental-downloads?

With the PS3 you can only download owned movies.

                Dan,
Please check your facts. You CAN download rented Vudu movies on the PS3 (this was added with an update in October, as was mentioned earlier in this thread). I'm downloading 1 now with several others in queue.

What is lacking is any VUDU associate with any knowledge of how this works or any FAQ about it. Questions I've had and have seen include:

Do you have to leave VUDU open on your PS3 for the downloading to continue? (seems like yes--nothing ever seems to download if I close it. This is pain because you can't do anything else with your PS3 while waiting for your movie to download.)

How do you delete the rented content from your hard drive once the rental has expired?

FYI to everyone--if you go to the "My Vudu" section you will see that downloads is an option and you can select the max download speed, order for downloads, etc. It seems cool--but you'll have to figure it out on your own.

                Thanks,
                DealGuy

                  Elwaylite,
The PS3 receives and decodes the same audio signal as any other device. But with the current SDK that we got from Sony, it can only output multi channel PCM (i.e. the decoded DD+ signal) or Dolby Digital (decoded DD+ signal re-encoded to Dolby Digital).
                  Hagen.

Once you rent the movie, a button to download will appear right next to "Watch HDX"(Depending on the quality you rented). You must keep the VUDU app open to continue the download.

You can browse to the downloaded movies by selecting "MY VUDU" from the UI, then "MY Downloads".

wanna,Streaming should be available for those who want convenience and to save SPace on their HD. I'm sure this is vastly the more popular method. But DL should be provided as an option for those of us who cannot tolerate interruptions.

Im going to be grabbing a PS3, was wondering what would be the best audio selection, PCM the DD 5.1+ to my Marantz or let it reencode to DD 5.1?

Looking forward to trying the download app on the PS3.

One more question. Is the vudu output 1080p/24 or 1080p/60 from the PS3?
