Xbox One app refuses to play HDX movies

Whenever I attempt to play HDX movies using the VUDU app on my Xbox One, I get the "Insufficient Network Bandwidth" message, stating that Minimum bandwidth for HDX is 4.5MB/s. Either that, or I get the spinning 'working' circle for a while and then it dumps me back to the movie selection screen. If I choose "Continue in HDX", I just get the spinning circle and it eventually takes me back to the "Insufficient Network Bandwidth" message. If I choose "Switch to HD" then the movie will play.

Why won't HDX play? I have Comcast with SpeedTest.net results of 28.60 Mb/s down and 5.84 Mb/s up, so my connection speed is not an issue.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. There are only three activated devices (Xbox One, Roku, and my MacBook Pro).

HDX movies play fine Roku. I haven't tried it on the Mac, but most (all?) movies do not have permissions to play HDX on the computer.

I just submitted this same information to Support. Reference #140302-000083. Curious if others are experiencing this problem too.

Re: Xbox One app refuses to play HDX movies

Is your Xbox connected wirelessly or wired? If I run into an issue with streaming I will usually switch to wired first to make sure it can stream then go back to wireless. I have found a few times that a neighbor has put in a new router that steps on the channel or that something environmental in the house may be causing it. One time I found a new HP printer was "washing" out my WiFi due to a defective radio.

It's a wired connection. Can't believe I left out that vital piece of information.

Was wondering if Comcast is limiting viewing of HDX on Xbox One or if it's something else.

        I have this exact problem.

        I have an Xbox One.
I have Comcast Cable (blast service, so more than enough for Vudu and yes I have speed tested my service).
I use Vudu without any problem on other devices.

But on the Xbox One... HDX movies often start, play for approximately six seconds and then stop.
Occasionally, I get the "insufficient bandwidth" message. This only recently started happening.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
I have rebooted the Xbox One.

I worry this is an Xbox app specific problem. Welcome any thoughts on how to resolve.

It can be anything between your Xbox and the VUDU CDN. If you run the VUDU speed test:

          http://speedtest.vudu.com/

It should be an accurate representation of the expected bandwidth with VUDU. Also are you doing anything in your router or DNS settings that are our of the ordinary? QOS, Comcast DNS or other DNS?

Thanks. I think it's probably an issue with the Xbox One VUDU app. The app also experiences long Authenticating times, as others have reported. No problems playing HDX content from my Roku... but my Roku uses Dolby Digital Plus and my Sonos sound bar is not compatible with DD+

No DNS changes made to my router. I have the generation Apple Airport Extreme just previous to the new one.
            VUDU speed test results:

            Results
Download Speed: 25137 kbps (25.1 Mbps)
Upload Speed: 5548 kbps (5.5 Mbps)

I tried the VUDU app immediately after running the speed test and no change in behavior.

Thanks Dan. HDX movies appear to be loading fine tonight. I closed out the ticket. Appreciate the quick response.

Hi there. I just wanted to update a resolution on my particular problem. This was a Comcast issue. For whatever reason, the streaming speed was randomly slipping at night. I started to aggressively run Comcast speed tests and discovered that I was not reliably getting the speeds needed to run the app. I called Comcast and they resolved it.
